Re: Rockster Lives!

So it should look like this then? (From the inside)

I note also that RJ has his Cut control wired opposite to me.

Re: Rockster Lives!

Gotcha... you were a step ahead of me. So it actually looks like this? [IMG:408:728]http://i.imgur.com/8EoQ2.jpg[/img] Thanks. Still got to sort out the short (or other error) in the power supply... it keeps blowing the mains fuse on start up. Don't suppose there is anything obviously wrong there th...

Rockster Lives!

Don't suppose anyone has built an Octal Rocket according to the Schematic posted in http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7300&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=rockster&start=0 this thread? I'm working from schematic and layout at the following link. http://imgur.com/a/MSXkd I'd love to see a...

Re: Ceriatone Dizzy 30

I built one a while ago - bought trannies from West Labs, but got everything else from Nik. It is pretty bright, but totally useable. I have an SG with P90s and a 50's spec tele (med-low output pickups), and the only adjustment I really need to make when swapping guitars is to the Cut control. The E...

Re: Chassis purchase

Get onto RJ - rjguitars.net - his chassis are well made, and he should have one available with 3 novals, and 3 octals as a 5E5 would use.

Re: Its Alive!!!! New Rocket build, first impressions

Cool.

I'm a bit further off than that... I expect I'll be at least a couple of weeks - probably more like a month.

Have got a few bits and pieces done, but really need to get a bunch of prep work done for field trips that will have me away for most of the next three weeks.

Re: Its Alive!!!! New Rocket build, first impressions

Crafty,

Hi.

Another Melburnian here. I'm in the middle of a 'Rockster' build at the moment, it'd be good to get together and compare notes when we're done.

Let me know if you're interested.

Cheers

Re: Rocket PT 240v

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I have contacted marstrans and he does not stock these transformers. I will try a local transformer maker here in Melbourne. RG Let me know how you get on... I'm also in Melbourne. I'm planning on rebuilding my DC30 clone as a Rocket soon - will use the existing West ...

Sorta, but not well. Wire coathangers around here (Australia) are made of aluminium.... that ground bus should be copper.

Re: Tweed Overdrive Special

Thanks for the answers. Guytron seems to use two EL84's on the preamp section: http://www.amptone.com/guytrongt100.htm The reason for asking if the EL84 would do is that the 5879 is not so easily found in this part of the world I live. The delivery will be about 3-9 weeks from USA. EF86 is more eas...

Re: Lookee What I Got (amp porn alert)

That looks like a later production Sound City (Dallas Arbiter name below power switch) - like my MkIV SC120R... monster... That also came with some amazing valves. Do yourself a favour, and look up early SoundCity (or HiWatt schematics - Dave Reeves built the early ones) and replace the hiss...
