Re: Heater Wires - Elevate or Twist?
Do it the way Fender mostly did it, levate and twist. Even when powering the heaters of 6 preamp tubes that's only 1.8 amp of heater current so once your passed the output tubes and feeding the preamp tubes you can very safely step down to 18 ga wire and then get the benift of making more twist / tu...

Re: Peavey Artist 240
If there really is only two 100 ohm resistors then it looks to me that no matter how you cut it only the screens of the first two output tubes off the PI are getting the voltage drop.

Re: Princeton reverb 12at7 voltage is inconvenient.
For the price of a reverb driver transformer and the tube you drive it you can get a SS reverb section the only needs 5 volts .

This comment might be short sighted, but how does one become a better guitar player when you leave your axe at a Cigar Lounge all week long?
I missed this the first time through this string.

Re: Help with circuit
Well you first need to learn about what negative feedback is and what it does to the tone and response of a amp. To save someone from from having to type up a 25 minute reply to you take stroll over to the Aiken amp site, go into his white paper listing and there you will find 2 articles on negative...

Re: Keep a lookout.
The heat sink is bolted to the SS recto bridge.
This whole PS board however is on output tube side of the chassis, but I think the issue might be more age related.

Re: Output transformers
I am working on a real DS right now trying to take some gain out of it, but more importantly hiss. Anyway with 100% strong testing 84s in this amp and 120 vac coming in the amp in stock form is hard pressed to output 12 watts rms. That Hammond will live forever in that circuit if the core is close t...

The solid core black wire must be the shield attached to the core.

Re: Deluxe Reverb power transformer change?
The main difference between the two amps is the responce time of the two different rectifiers used once the output stage starts to really load the power supply hard. The 5U4 has a much higher internal impedance then the GZ and there for will respond a bit slower under high current draw conditions. N...

Sounds like a Wards Airline 8517 cut back to only 2 outputs might be a interesting way to go.
