Re: Showman UP

The Marshall circuit based mods by Dumble are interesting and diverse. I have played a few. First one was a Marshall plexi that had a master volume, and sounded just like Kossoff, it was amazing to witness. Second one was a modded Fender amp and it was much more modern sounding, smoother. The third ...

Re: Showman UP

Dumble Ultraphonix Fender amps follow the original topology, the topology of the donor amp, in the case of silver and blackface amps. This amp is 2 gain stages before the phase inverter, like the donor. If you see any cascaded medium to high gain master volume amplifier marketed or presented as an U...

Re: Santana Dumbles

From what I can see, that Overdrive reverb looks identical in the phase inverter section to a 90s Dumble ODS that I worked on a few years back. And the separate Reverb controls: I have seen this in a Dumble ODR before. Both amps I had the pleasure of working on were under a 'do not share' basis. Als...

Re: The plate to cathode cap

I have always wondered, and honestly I do not know. But if the different methods of shunting highs were the same, it would not matter how one places the cap (plate to ground, plate to grid etc.), but it does. As does the quality of the components. And I do not know how to simulate this with programs...

Re: The plate to cathode cap

If the cathode cap is 'perfect', as well as the leads/solder joints to ground making a perfect zero ohms path, forming a perfect Thevenin loop, then yes, its shunted to ground. In practice, the cap is not perfect, nor is the signal path to ground. Its close, but not perfect. Its my understanding tha...

Re: UP Bassman Main Board Layout

That amp is not an Ultraphonics amp, this is a high gain deal, the UP amps were revoiced clean amps instead. jelle

With respect to a hostile takeover; Allyn pays for the hosting of this site *every year*, which given the size of the site this cost is significant, and he does it without asking for anything back, nor asks for contributions.

Who here puts his money down like that?

Re: Guitar Gallery Thread! Post 'em up!

Hello -- Fine looking 335-style, which evidently you built? Recent addition of a 1948 L-48. Came lightly electrified, with semi-permanently mounted DeArmond monkeystick wired to a volume pot on the pickguard and a jack on the side of the lower bout. Removed for the moment as repairs necessary to bo...

Its Alexander Dumble as far as I know, and he owns the sole right to use the DUMBLE brand on Musical Equipment.
Reread the above.
