Re: Tolex used on TR John Mayer head

I recall a post by rfgordon with pictures of an amp that had a covering that changed colors depending on the angle of view. I think he had a link to the supplier. I checked it out and found the carbon fiber styled tolex/vinyl was available from that supplier. I believe this type of covering was for ...

Re: Blackface Princeton - get the power section working hotter

My first inclination is to keep it totally stock for potential resale value. These things just keep going up. Having said that if you must tweak then read on. The following is something From David Allen I found interesting on another forum and saved for future reference. From David Allen I worked on...

Re: Express with Variable Voltage Regulator

I just Installed a London Power Scaling Kit (SB-1) on my Express clone and so far am very pleased with it. I scaled only the power tubes and used what he calls the Improved bootstrap master volume for drive compensation. I think this master volume is an improvement to this amp even if you don't pow...

Re: Need help on my Rat-Rod Express Please!

I had some PTs some time ago that had an orange wire that was connected to an internal/elctrostatic sheild and that wire was connected to ground. It belive they had yellow/green heater CTs though. I just have a hard time accepting the orange wire as a heater CT unless they ran out of yellow/green th...

Re: new webcomic in town

Check out Triode Electronis in Chicago. I know they have transformers made for them with the 166 EIA codes. They also sell on ebay as triodeel.
I have found them to be very helpful in the past. Maybe they would give you a phone number or address for the manufacturer.

Man this is like when I found out there was no Santa Claus. What a bummer. I was sure I could trust a good old merican manufactuer not to deceive me. Any way I thought there was something going on when I would glue the blue Atom cans down and still here a kind of sprong sound when I would tap on the...

Re: Best Jensen for 5E3 Tweed Deluxe

Hello Paddy I have built a good number of 5E3 amps and 3 speakers consistently get picked depending on budget and the perceived tone of the end user. Jensen P12Q reissue. Least expensive. Takes a long time to break in but when it does it sounds good. Victoria uses this speaker in their 5E3s. You can...

Re: tube mic preamp

If you want the real deal you can do no netter than a kit from Scott Hampton. Check out his website at Hamptone.com. I have built anumber of these units both the tube and the jfet with and with out precison step attenuators. Its just mind blowing how good these mic pres are.
