Re: Best Output Transformer

You using the original spec, or the vintage spec tranny? I don't remember when I sent you yours, but I added some new stuff to the line at the end of the year. The vintage spec is identical to the Pacific in Glenn's amp -- on M19/26 steel, same lams, same wind, same tap, etc. The difference is notic...

Re: Oneslut OT wire colors

These are up on his site. He says he has wood the new stuff has been shipped to him so he may have it in by now even though his page does not indicate that yet. Thanks for posting that Gary -- but I updated it to reflect the whole updated line, so here's an even newer version: [img:740:980]http://w...

Re: What happened to Moose's Toneslut site ?

Heh -- I just noticed this thread. Far too funny. First, because I've got about four monitors pinging my site regularly to make sure it's still up. I started reading and immediately checked the logs before seeing the real cause! I've been in a panic since a time last year when I was down for a coupl...

Re: Pacific transformers Versus Heyboer transformers?

Chris - Wow, a man possessed. Good call on the 6600 single tap and the change in steel. When you get the Rocket iron in house, let me know? I am still thinking a single tap is my preference but I would still try it. Yeah, I wish I had rocket iron for you, but I haven't made the jump, yet. I'm tryin...

Re: Pacific transformers Versus Heyboer transformers?

My understanding of the chronology of the transformers is the originals had the Stancor, then there was the Pacific copy of the Stancor, and then I suspect a Heyboer copy of the Pacific. Is that correct? Maybe. I think the more correct way to express it would be Heyboer and Pacific both copied the ...

Re: Pacific transformers Versus Heyboer transformers?

Actually, "Pacific" and "Heyboer" are not the only considerations. And I'm partly to blame. I did some early research (my first wreck inspired amp is dated at the beginning of 2003, so REALLY early) and, as we've learned more, I haven't been here as often as I should be to contribute to the evolving...

It's plenty. As long as it can handle the heater's draw, you'll be fine.

Re: Rocket Transformers

there is something going on I don't understand. The liverpool schematics call for the lower voltage. I think you're worrying about things that are long since solved. The power tranny is taken directly from KFs line card. His Pacific line card is the same even though the spec numbers are slightly di...

Re: Ceriatone express toneslut upgrade

Now if you can get a Pacific or a Stancor, then your really cookin' with gas. Don't forget, I carry an express tranny that's the dead-nuts formula of the Pacific -- M19/26 steel, single tap 6600 ohm, crazy stancor-style interleaved laminates. I'd be surprised if you can hear the difference to the P...

Re: New build startup issues

Congrats on the working amp. With the red plating, I'd measure the C- right at pin 5. It's possible that it's not getting to the tube itself. +1 As for the high heater V -- did you check the wall voltage? I bet you have 125V or more. I tend to see 6.5V on 121V wall voltage here in the house, and 40...

I will get on this tomorrow (busy tonight). Thanks for the great walk through.

BTW, ditch the bulb limiter???

If it wasn't glowing full on, you didn't have a dead short. You're fine without the limiter, now.

Re: New build startup issues

Finally got to where I could DL those pics... Where have we left off? Did you pull the flyback diodes from the power tubes to see if that helped? Also, have you installed JUST the power tubes and done a B+ check? I'd be interested to know if you're getting ~390V there without the preamp tubes in. Lo...

Re: Two simple high end solutions

I have lots of them laying around is there any particular brand that youve found darker than others? I just put in a Tungsram and a Munich RFT. Both are excellent tubes for the wreck, with the Tungsrams being particularly good for harmonic content. Wrecks are super sensetive to tube changes, so try...
