Re: Liverpool output transformers
I recently replaced my Edcor 5.2K OT with a Hammond 6.6K OT on my Liverpool. I didn't notice a difference in loudness, the Hammond seems a bit brighter and Overdrive starts later, but just as good. I know this isn't exactly the trannies you gents are talking about. From the talk here I also wanted t...

Re: New member here
Welcome drummer. I started my amp building from building pedals first, and after I didn't kill myself I moved onto building amps, which can really kill you. I live up in Northern Canada and would have liked to build a kit to start on, but I couldn't afford at the time to pay almost double for a kit ...

Re: Opinions on Vox tone vs. EF86
Hi Vipe. I built an AC30 with the normal and top boost. The normal channel for me sucked, so I put in a ef86 channel. it’s better than the the normal channel and has good grunt, but I tend to use the top boost the most. For me the top boost channel is what I want to hear and sounds like an AC30 shou...

Re: BEST VOX TRANSFORMERS?
hey Dave. I had to search around , when I used the 250 tap on the Rocket I had 294 on the plates and you are correct I had under 100V on V1. I remember, I couldn't figure out why I was getting crackling when plugging into the input jack. Xtian and Jana helped me by getting me to install a .1uf cap a...

Re: BEST VOX TRANSFORMERS?
I have an iron set from RJ - for my Rocket the PT is a Pacific made for RJ, which has 2 taps 250 - 0 -250 and a 280 - 0 - 280 I found the 280v tap sounds better to me. I also have the same OT that Martin listed. I built an AC30 with an EF86 instead of the normal channel. The PT is a Hammond 275 0 27...

Actually I built a Liverpool a few months ago with a ppmiv master volume and it actually sound good with the MV.
I never posted that build but it was built on one of RJs reverse chassis, but it still looks good.
