Re: O'scope Back to Basics for you guys... a learning game...
Not that I ever, really, considered it.....but when I (rarely...wish I was better with it) use a scope, I connect it to my handheld Sig Gen. It has a Fine Adjust on it. I turn that pot until I see 1 Volt P to P on the scope. I figured 1 Volt was a "normal" guitar amplitude for some reason. Kind of g...

Re: Connector ID
Those are two very sensible suggestions, except for:dorrisant wrote: your local electronics supply place... Also, look for two-way radio shops
Local ES store
Local 2 way RS
We have not had anything like that since about 1985.

Re: Let's talk tube sockets...
Yeah, wow.....I do not even use 18 on the power tubes.
Hhmmmmmm
What do we really need (as for AWG) for heater wires in your basic guitar amp:
2x EL34
5x 12AX7
1x #47 light bulb

Re: Connector ID
"DID I STUTTER?!?" No, but did you type "connector store" into Google? http://www.repairconnector.com Holy cow! It's a thing! Holy Moley - Thank You for the link. I will sift through there and see if I can find similar. Would be Awesome if PV lends a hand. Even if I can just get hold of the right M...

I emailed PV, but do not know if they will pitch in or not. Can any of you guys identify the Molex type connectors (name, part number, style, etc) in this amp.? I would like to get the Male and Female ends to all the Slide On/Snap-On type connectors for the: Reverb OT PT Speaker PT secondary .....wh...

Re: Variac Vs Attenuator?
any sugestions on a good model to buy? I have an old general radio W5mt only 5 amp and no meter. would this be ok? http://www.circuitspecialists.com/variac-tdgc2-2.html I didn't fully read the specs but am guessing that the meter is an ammeter not a voltmeter. 20 amps is by far and above anything n...

Re: Peavey C-30
Two things I forgot to mention: 1. Sticker on amp says it was made in 10-21-2012 2. I have swapped in good tubes. The C30 has it heaters wired in series, so it is hard (impossible.?) to pull tubes and isolate a problem. I have checked every connection I can think of, all look and seem good. I WILL p...

Hissing/Bacon Frying.
It is on both channels, and all the Volume/Gain pots...it increases with the pots.
Just on chance, I cleaned all jacks and tube sockets.

You guys with experience.....how do you Work/Test these amps.? The tri-fold boards are real hard to get at...they are slid under the lip of the chassis, so I cannot really get a probe on them. I pulled the boards out of the chassis, only to realize I cannot get power to them after they are free. Tha...

Re: Deleted Posts - Policy Change Possible?
Great point! I support that as well. Also, what is the policy about making threats to physically hurt other members? We had that happen recently, and I did not see any follow up on that. I do not think no follow up is sufficient. But as a starter, I would think having the policy clear would be good...
