Re: 18 watt liverpool pcb build
Josh, What you've described is generally going to have something to do with a bad ground. So I've followed the ground paths and I see something that needs a 2nd look... there is a wire that doesn't appear to be soldered. let us know if that is the problem or at least part of it. Thanks, rj I actual...

18 watt liverpool pcb build
Hey all, I've been building an 18 watt liverpool based off RJ's pcb design. Its for a friend who is also a member of the amp garage, he's building the cabinet for it and i believe that he will post some of his progress in this thread as well. The build went together fairly easily, and it is up and r...

Bourns 95 guitar pot question
Hi all, I have myself an epiphone sheraton ii pro that im in the process of upgrading. Ive got some lindy fralin p92s in it, and im about to install some bourns 95 pots and tropical fish tone caps. My question is, is there any reason to ground the bushing/shaft of the pot with the supplied grounding...

Re: Princeton reverb coming together (need some help)
12AU7 will have increased current over 12AT7, but if nothing has smoked by now, it's probably ok. Neither of the tanks you mention carry the ground through from input to output. The send cable shield must be grounded in your amp, usually by tying it to the return cable shield ground. AB2 is medium ...

Re: Princeton reverb coming together (need some help)
You need to study the reverb pan data the 2 in 9AB2C1B is medium decay and the 3 in 9AB3C1B is long decay. If switching to 4 type pan 2 spring long tank there is a difference in transducer and Reverb Driver ohms. Looking at the specs, the 9ab2c1b has an input impedance of 10 ohms. The reverb driver...

Re: Princeton reverb coming together (need some help)
Yes, tank placement can influence hum. And you've got to get the right tank, so the impedances and grounding scheme match the circuit. Definitely will do. Would I be okay leaving the 12au7 as the reverb driver? Also could I use the Accutronics 9AB2C1B or should I stick with the 4AB3C1B? It would be...

Re: Princeton reverb coming together
Well I fired it up today! The clean tone is absolutely amazing, the best I've heard. I've got a few issues to work out, maybe you all can help. First the reverb sounds kinda odd. Like it floats on top of the note and is very washy. I'm guessing it's the reverb tank, as it's not exactly the one the c...

Princeton reverb coming together (need some help)
Hi everyone, I've put in a bunch of work on my Princeton reverb build. All that's left is the bias board. I'm waiting on a new 100uf cap for it, as the first one they sent me was dead shorted! Any feedback would be great. I've got an amperex bugle boy for the input tube, Sylvania 12au7 for the rever...

linear pots in tone stack
Im currently building a princeton reverb, and have accidentally ordered 250k linear pots for the treble and bass controls instead of logarithmic. What would be the effect of using these anyway? Ive also read that you can make a pseudo-log pot by paralleling a resistor across the linear pot. Could i ...

Princeton reverb speaker
Hi all,
I'm in the process of building a blackface Princeton reverb. I've got 2 speakers at home i can use. A creation g10 gold, and a 10" Jupiter ceramic. What differences in sound can I expect? Which would you all reccomend?
Thanks!
