12au7 in Princeton Reverb
Hi again all, My parts are starting to come in for my Princeton Reverb, and I was curious if i could sub all the 12ax7's with 12au7's? Im looking to keep the volume on this thing as low as possible. Im sure that subbing v1 would be fine. Im wondering what the effect would be on the reverb return and...

Re: First Princeton reverb build
Is there any advantage to using a deluxe reverb output transformer? Would it make the amp sound any bigger/fuller?

Re: First Princeton reverb build
Also I have decided to stick with my 10" speaker. I've always been a fan of them. This will mostly be an in home amp, for my apartment, and i find that a 10" doesn't sound a whole lot different than a 12" at low volumes like that. I'll post some pictures as parts start coming in, and this will likel...

Re: First Princeton reverb build
Thank you all for the advice!
Another question, what would be the effect of reducing all .1uf caps in the build to .68? I have enough .68 sozo caps lying around to replace them, would this cause a significant difference or any issues? Thanks again

Re: First Princeton reverb build
Sweet, thank you! Would you recommend shelling out the extra cash to go for the 12" speaker? I was hoping to save a little bit by going with the 10 incher I've got on hand, but if it'll make a noticeable difference id go for the 12.

First Princeton reverb build
Hi all, I just pulled the trigger on my first batch of parts for a Princeton reverb build. I decided to try a few different brands of parts that I've never used, prp resistors, solen film caps (with the exception of 1 jupiter) and mundorf for the electrolytic. Any info on the quality of these parts?...

Re: Rat and big muff in the same enclosure
Im actually thinking of just transplanting the guts of my rat 2 and my nano big muff pi into one enclosure. So I'm restricted by the sizes of their pcbs and such.

Rat and big muff in the same enclosure
Hi again everyone, I'm considering putting my rat and big muff into one enclosure. I was considering running them in parallel, with a footswitch for each. My question is, what size enclosure would you guys recommend? I'm not super experienced in pedal building, and I don't want this thing to get too...

Re: Strat 2nd and 4th positions sound the same as 3rd
In the 3rd position it's definitely just the middle pickup. I'll give that a try too if the switch doesn't solve the issue! Thanks!

Lace sensor opinions
For all you single coil players out there, what are your opinions on lace sensors? They seem to get lots of not that great reviews, as well as some glowing ones. As a long time humbucker user, I actually really love them. They have that single coil sound but don't sound quite so thin to me. I have a...

Re: Strat 2nd and 4th positions sound the same as 3rd
I'll definitely do the switch and post results. While I'm here, I'd like to get some other people's opinions on lace sensors. They seem to get pretty mixed reviews, but as a person who was never into traditional single coils, I love an. I like their compression and sort of glassiness. Maybe I'll sta...

Re: Strat 2nd and 4th positions sound the same as 3rd
Also, I thought the purple was a single coil as well. It sounds pretty single coily to me, is it actually considered a humbucker? It's got the same set of wires coming out of it as the silver

Re: Strat 2nd and 4th positions sound the same as 3rd
I think the first thing I'll do is replace the toggle. The one I have in there is kinda shitty. I'm pretty sure the wiring is correct based on the diagrams but I'll go over it some more once I change out the switch. And if that doesn't do it, I'll shoot lace an email.
Thank you for the help!

Strat 2nd and 4th positions sound the same as 3rd
Hi all, I recently put together a strat from used ebay parts. I'm using a fender body and a maple WD neck that I got used for a pretty good price, with sperzel locking tuners. The guitar plays and sounds great, but I'm having an issue with the 2nd and 4th positions. They sound exactly the same as wh...
