Re: Jan short bottle 6l6wgb
Anyone want to chime in with some suggestions for some decent glass for my boogie, bearing in mind its fixed bias, being in the UK we don't have a great selection of production stuff at reasonable costs

Re: Really stupid question
You won't be able to run your speaker(s) with just the preamp tubes. The preamp feeds into the power amp, then to the speaker - so if you pull the power tubes, no signal will get to the speaker. That's the general idea, I have a 1 watt power amp that I would like to run rather than the full on roar...

Really stupid question
Been messing with my D Clone, I am ok to just run the preamp section and pull the power tubes if I want to use the preamp section as a standalone for practice? I suspect I should be but am now suffering from severe brain fart

Ive heard a lot lot worse than that, I doubt anything will ever really nail a valve amp but that's a pretty good effort

Re: A Les Paul rebuild
What did you use for the red? A spirit based dye, effectively you dissolve the dye in Methylated spirits, wipe on and wait for it to dry then build up the coats to get the desired shade, I found I needed around 20 coats on the top to 5 coats on the main body, leave to dry for 24 hours then shoot th...

Re: A Les Paul rebuild
Bit of a update , plenty of horror for those that hate red lol however its not bad in my humble opinion, few bits to sort out like a new nut, new saddles etc, i'll play it in this weekend with a rough setup and see where I am with it. The finish is spirit dyed with 2 clear coats of nitro and some ca...

Re: A Les Paul rebuild
By spirit based I'm assuming you mean oil based stain. Maple and oil based stain don't mix. Just paint it black then if you don't like goldtop. If you mean a dye dissolved in alcohol that will work much more betta Alcohol dissolvable dyes, never bothered with oil based dnnyes due problems with shoo...
