I've replaced the roach in about a dozen Fender amps like this and that is "likely" the problem for the weak trem in that amp.

Not necessarily your exact problem but I had an amp that the choke wires were shorted by some low hanging leads from above. It made it seem as if the standby switch was shorted when in fact it was not. It drove me nuts until I figured it out. Just check everything around it just in case!
