Re: 60s Vox AC30 Twin Super Reverb
I got it working stable as a standard AC30 Top Boost. I changed out the 50 Ohm Cathode resistor for a 125 Ohm and I think the newer production tubes will appreciate that better. I have read that reverb on these one off models isn't so great anyhow. In all my hacking, I accidentally disconnected pin ...

Re: Flames from OT, can it still be ok?
Thanks for the replies! And yes, I don't really trust the amp right now so will be careful with tubes and speakers I use for a while as I crank the heat back up on it. The speaker and tubes test out ok after the event. I swear the arc was happening at the OT and not the sockets. I did the epoxy thin...

Flames from OT, can it still be ok?
So I had an incident with an Ampeg Reverberocket 2 combo. I was tipping it over and looking in the back and accidentally tipped it where it kinda landed forward on my feet with a slight thud. Immediately loud hum and flames were shooting out of the OT where the primaries go in. I saw them! I pulled ...

Re: 60s Vox AC30 Twin Super Reverb
If it's the transformerless type, you may want to look at the Vox AC10SRV that was posted here recently https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31921 Or the AC10SRT both of which have that same circuit https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31585 It may not match 100% but it's in...

Re: 60s Vox AC30 Twin Super Reverb
There is a Vox site with schematics of vintage gear. I don’t have the link handy but you might search for it. Here ya go: https://www.korguk.com/voxcircuits/ There is an AC30 reverb there; don’t know if that’s the one you have. Yep, saw that but I think that is for some later amp mod. The one I hav...

Re: 60s Vox AC30 Twin Super Reverb
Does anyone have a schematic? It looks like there is an extra pot behind the reverb panel and I'm not sure why. I haven't found many pics of these and no schematics with reverb. I saw one site that had the reverb tank picture but this one has a dual set of springs contrary to what I have seen. I gue...

60s Vox AC30 Twin Super Reverb
Aloha, Just trying to debug this sucker on a low budget and have a couple of questions. 1. How is the selector switch supposed to operate in the back as stock? I can't seem to find any specific info on that. 2. Vibrato/Trem works as do the normal and bright channels. Both Vibrato and Normal appear t...

Re: Holland Amp
I’ve tried a couple of areas in my house. I think I’m picking at nits on this, most of my amps have some noise at full crank. I think I’m just becoming a bit perfectionist which is good and bad when you want to move on to the next one.......

It's finally analog O-scope time
Oh man, I just got this monster. It works okay, I think, I'm not schooled yet, but probably needs a little cleanup and tuning. I've used some digital and computerized O's but I must've fixed 300 amps without using one. I guess it's time to step up my game, I think....Anyone have an opinion on the ol...

Re: Holland Amp
It is not an issue with the pan on its side so there it stays. Other pans did the same thing, I tried several. Here it is in its cab. Still need to sort out a ground loop - slight 120Hz hum when volume turned way up. I may try moving the grid stopper placement on the main input coax or maybe elimina...

Re: Holland Amp
Yes, it is a puzzle. The reverb on this is super deep so it probably would help the noise floor to tone it down a little bit. The best orientation is turned 180 degrees on its side and very near the chassis. If I keep it that orientation and move it away a foot or two, the buzz starts to appear agai...
