Re: NFB making me friggin nuts....
Just some more ideas to trace the problem. -Have you wired the grid resistors directly on the sockets? ( if not , do it) -Have you got a 1 Meg master volume? ( i had a self oscillation using a 250 k one) -By using chopsticks have you tried to move the wiring and to check on the scope is something is...

Re: NFB making me friggin nuts....
Hi Icetech. this , to me, sounds like a self oscillation that starts just on certain output levels and/or particular frequency. The only way to verify such a possibility is with a scope and a signal generator or a variable freq sine wave generator ( i have a cd with sweep test tones that is good for...

Re: solders
I left audio hi end as an hobby, because lot of people was going crazy listening to solders or the spikes where the amps sits, and forgetting completely of the music.
I hope guitar amps will be not the same.........

just a personal opinion
Coming myself from several years of diy in hi end tubes and solid state experience, where sometimes attention to details is more similar to magic than to objective facts, i'm a little bit surprised that a big importance is given to these aspects ( cap polarity in foil caps) , while in the meantime o...

thanks for the replies
Hey guys thanks for your suggestions. Finally I've ordered them. Even though i will be crying for the money, I hope I 'll be smiling for the final result. Will let you know when I'll finish my build with Mercurys, compared to other dumble clones I've realized. Thanks and bye Paolo PS as a side note:...

mercury magnetic transformers
Hello guys. I had the occasion to give a try at a jtm45/bassman clone equipped with axiom mercury trafos, and i have been really impressed by the clean sound and the incredible attack that was coming out from that amp. The builder of the amp told me that 99% of the quality of that amp resides in the...

have you got a channel switching relay?
if you do channel switching via a relay, pls refer to ground the coil supply ( unless you already have done it).
I've been messing around with a bad hum until i was discovering this issue , thanks to the help on this forum.

noteworthy guitar
Just to tell you that in the 80's there was a IBANEZ named LR10 (lee ritenour model) . If you can find one, try it because it's one of the best "no frills" 335 style gutars ever built. IMO the only thing to improve is the neck pickup, with a "smoother one", like the SD SH2N Jazz model or a paf style...

Thanks for the advise guys.
I'll try to play a little bit with the resistors.
Tha tank is coming from a 90's twin reverb (something like 4ab....) and the reverb xformer is from the same amp.
Ciao e Grazie

1 tube reverb - help
Hello all. This is my first post here. I've finished an hybrid a with a little of the tweakings that are suggested by the forum gurus and I'm here to ask for your help on the glasman 1 tube reverb. Yes i know it's supposed to be an "unobtrusive " effect, but being not really practical with guitar am...
