Re: how much does it cost you to build an amp?
Bill, I agree it takes a lot of time to build a nice amp. Amp companies that do it everyday usually build an amp in 8-12 hours of actual bench time. The parts are presourced since they make multiples of them and they are usually semi-finished (chassis holes). Rarely do amps that are made everyday b...

Re: TW amp cabinet source???
I'd like to see one... Pictures attached :!: I've got about 1/64 clearance on each side of the faceplate. It was ordered by the dimensions listed above. Remember, you have to supply your own front. This won't suit everybody, but gives us a good, low cost cab if that's what you want 8) Thanks again,...

At least you didn't have to build it PTP!
I saw a pic of a real one and it looked like someone just dumped a bunch of parts in the chassis!

Re: The old 6v6 in a twin question.
Cool idea. I wonder about doing this in a bassman head? It would make a Fender head usable with an 8 ohm cab!Richie wrote:if you run 4x 6v6 JJ it will still be loud.. another option is wire the socket for EL34..and just use 2 of them..and cathode bias the EL34s.. makes a cool sounding amp..

Re: Is a Liverpool really more usable than an Express?
Cool, it sounds like I'll start with an Express. I used my Express clone for the first time at a gig recently. It held up nicely against a loud drummer and 3 horns. We do mic the guitar amp. There was plenty of clean headroom for all the softer stuff we do and plenty of growl for the heavier stuff....

Re: 18watt server
Yes, still down at the moment (2pm EST). This is happening due to a larger upstream hosting firm buying out the smaller upstream hosting firm, the new upstream company is screwing up the server/DNS transfer royally. mhuss.com and some other domains I manage have also been offline this whole time. :...

Re: Is a Liverpool really more usable than an Express?
There is not that much difference in output: Liverpool is about 30W Express is about 35W To me, I think it's more of a preference thing. Fixed bias EL34s vs. cathode biased EL84s. Build them both, then decide :D Really? I was thinking the Express would be more like 50W! I probably will build both e...

Is a Liverpool really more usable than an Express?
I'm really wanting to build a TWC of some type. I had been reading that the Express was very much a lead machine and the Liverpool was close, but lower power and cleans up better. I've built a 36W and a few 18Wers and find the 36 to be about right volume wise, but I like run the amp at about 2 o'clo...

Re: So, talk me into building a Liverpool?
I haven't finished my Express yet, but am digging the Liverpool except for the slight instability it has. When it is working right, it's friggin' stellar. When not, it's highly frustrating. So far it does the clean to mean thing really well, but is really loud and I don't get much of an occasion to...

If you're Joe Lead Guitar, build an Express first. If you're a more all-around player, build a Liverpool first.

So, talk me into building a Liverpool?
I was really thinking about doing an express for quite awhile, but I'd like something to go with my 36W and would like something of similar power. I've also read that the Liverpool may be more flexible than an express. Part of the reason for the interest in the Liverpool is due to playing a Constell...
