Re: New Build
Dogears is right about the voltages - they are very critical to the tone. Reduce the value of the dropping resistors to V1 and V2. I think you should target 200V on V1 and 220V on V2. I also suppose if your B+ voltages are not high, then there's no need for the 180k resistor to simulate the FET. I s...

Re: Made some Dogear tweaks today...
Guys, how about some explanation on the deep and rock/jazz switches?
Also, the bright switch on mine seems to act more like a mid boost. There's abit of mid/bass content going in when I switch it in.
Weird.

Re: Transformer specs
Come to think of it, I could be wrong on D using Marshall PTs. Those I've seen could have been Musicman PTs, then.
Remember reading somewhere sometime ago that D got hold of a shipment of Musicman PT and he used them for a while.

Re: Transformer specs
I try to give this discussion a shot. It seems to me that the o/p trannys give the most character more than the power tranny - marshall tranny with EL34s give you the most marshally sound and fender output iron with 6L6s give a typical fender tone. The power trannys are there to provide the power to...

So you want to check the amp's ass, Mike? I happen to have one such picture, this was posted in an on-line magazine several years ago.

Pedro,
Have you tried putting a large resistor on the NC and NO leads of the OD/CLN relays? Say a 44M or 22M
I've seen circuits of that.

Re: RF/ML at Safari Sam's 05/15/06 Pictures + Notes
Gil, Wow, thanks Gil for the pics. This is great closeup of RF's amp. Any of the back? This is the same amp from the The Blue Line days? Same one from his teaching videos? Green jewel lamp and the green rubber on the rock/jazz switches. Loved his tone on the Blue Line days - but I'm not sure about t...

Re: Mad Professor amps ... Dumble Clones???
Since you guys are into building/rebuilding amps (and this is a D-cloning board), was wondering if any of you been in one of this?
Is it a D-circuit? with a D-lator?
Just curious to know.

Re: log / lin?
Yes.
Vol pots should be audio taper. You want to have a finer adjustment at low volumes.
For tone and presence pots, it's really up to you.
There's no advantage of having audio taper on bias pots.
