Re: How do I sell this.....
Scrounge your parts box and build a 5F1 or 5E3 into it for max outlay of $150, then give it to a friend you owe $300 to.

Forgot, one advantage of little gain is you don't need a volume pot

Re: Does anyone know what amp is it?
Maybe it needs more troubleshooting but just looking at the schematic it was born with very little gain. If you aren't locked into a detailed restoration try a bypass cap across the pre and/or power cathode resistors. Having experimented with old circuits it's best to modernize the input with the ty...

Re: Does anyone know what amp is it?
Never occurred to me to walk into a music shop and ask them if they have any has-beens and orphans that need help. Clever idea, great way to get to work on paleolithic amps. Hell, I'd even pay for the parts, there are so few, as long as it's not too much of a desiccated lizard, bug husks and mouse t...

Re: 100 watt OT in 50 watt amp
If you want some reassurance from those that went before, Orange used the same OT for the OR80 and OR120. Myself I'd use something properly spec'd but I guess like Orange you might want to try it and see if you like it.

Re: Vintage mystery parts
Electronics used to have such a chunky organic overdone steam punk quality to them. Sure beats replacing the screen in a smartphone.

Re: Further Grid Leak Bias Questions
Do I need mixers here? Seems just fine w/o, seems great actually, but I looked at various schematics and whenever two signals come together there are always mixer resistors. It's a very big PITA at this point to get them in there, what am I missing/loosing if I leave them out? If I really should put...

Re: Filter Caps on Mains?
You want to avoid possibility of fires so if you use you should install these, you want the ones that fail open. I think these are the right X/Y types but please check or have others confirm:

Re: New Solid State FX loop source - $20
Forgot about this one. It's very similar to the Dexter which I'd love to try. I think the pcb cut-out for tube ventilation and to not scorch the pcb is a rather diligent detail. Claims it can be set up for parallel. $27 shipping for something so light and small is whack, it's like saying f'off we do...

Re: New Solid State FX loop source - $20
Here's another inexpensive loop. Not sure what their shipping to the States would be but it's light, cheap enough that it would likely skip customs. You should be able to knock 20% VAT off too. There's a very detailed pdf. https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/Kits/Misc-Kits/Kit-Seriel-FX-Loop-LND150::5...

Re: Parallel Rectifiers Balancing Resistors
I win the botching, I got the simplest thing in the world wrong, twice! But I was thinking like the resistors across series caps or the snubber resistor cap networks you see across diode strings sometimes. But, yes I now see it's what you always see recommended in Brit hifi, like from the Mullard ci...

Re: Parallel Rectifiers Balancing Resistors
Almost... the resistors connected to the second rectifier's plates go back to the PT secondary winding, not to the first rectifier's plates. Three strikes? OK Martin, I've now broken new bounds in what can be achieved with cut and paste. I am the king of adulterated Fender schematics. Maybe I shoul...
