Re: Single jack FX loop send/return

Thanks!
So how does this work exactly? Need a special patch cord that has one plug on one end and a split end on the other for Fx input/Fx output?

Single jack FX loop send/return

Is there a schematic for this anywhere? I think a Matchless amp had this loop but it interests me as I have a extra hole in a vintage Marshall master vol and dont really want to rill another hole.

Re: Assembling the wooden faceplate?

Supposedly Ken liked PEC pots in latter years. I've seen inside 10 or 12 Wrecks and never seen PEC's though I don't know the build date of all of those. I have seen AB mid pots and Dave Funks build used a Clarostat presence pot. If you have a original spec thin chassis then normal pots will barley t...

Re: Assembling the wooden faceplate?

The power switches I use very thin star washers like what normally come with mil spec pots but fit the shaft of the switches.

Re: Assembling the wooden faceplate?

I use normal Cts pots with the flat washer on the faceplate and tighten the nut. Doesn't damage the wood faceplate and grounds have a solid connection, just the way Ken did them.

Tung Oil

High gloss or normal? 100% tung oil?
What do you think a original Wreck had used?

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?

They are definitely out there and they usually look good. IMO a replica build doesn't look right with out the cosmetics. So what if I cant afford a original JTM 45 or a 40k realTrainwreck and I build my own that I'm proud of and want it to look historically correct. If any one has a source please PM...

Varistor or Cap on Power Switch?

What did Ken put on the power switch?

I've all ways thought it was a cap to snub popping when switching off.
William Vogal said he put a Varistor on one of his builds he posted here. That got me thinking.

What was it and I don't understand what a varistor does on the switch?

Re: GDS/HEYBOER POWER TRANSFORMER PRIMARY

What's interesting is the original 60's power transformer had lugs for 205 225 245 with the secondary's being 300 300.
Is the GDS making the same voltage?

Re: Who still makes great hardwood cabs for Trainwreck amps?

Mark, I ground my pots the traditional way. Buss bar on the back of the pots like ken did. The problem that I have doing it this way is that with CTS pots (like Ken used some in latter builds) the threads are not long enough for 1/8" faceplate with a thin original spec chassis. Luckily I had a bunc...

Re: stackocaps and transformer bolts question

The chassis layout was done with photogrammetry. It may not be 100% accurate but I found that its very similar to my findings when laying out drill placement for Ingrid.
