Re: Anybody Else Want A Jim Kelley Amp?
Maybe Magnatone bought a Juke amp to see how to build the new Magnatone   Ummmmm Actually the designer behind the New Magnatone's is Obeid Kahn. A memeber here and a really talented amp designer. I doubt he had need to look inside someone else's amp for inspiration. I didn't know! Obeid ...

Just wait for the usual TGP hype to sweep the grounds. I'm sure you will find one for a good price eventually.Blackburn wrote:Think they'll be worth the eventual used price? I'm thinking between $2500 and $3K.

I think he is in Canada (based on a post I saw on the same topic in TGP) so he might have some additional costs related to shipping and HST etc.

Sounds great! I liked how you took the time to heat shrink the ends of your cloth insulated wiring. Great attention to detail.

Re: Good amp gone quiet - Troubleshooting Thread...
Thanks much. Appreciate the link.
$3 for part, $20 for shipping... Ouch. Means I will have to buy more parts to make the $20 shipping charge worth it. Here comes a new amp then!!!

Ok. I'll order the metal encased 1K25W and keep it on hand for this one too will break one day I'm sure. That and the $50 caps...
Erm... Anyone have a Mouser or other source link for one of these? Google is not playing nice with me somehow...

Re: Good amp gone quiet - Troubleshooting Thread...
Thanks for the idea. The one I used looks like this (just linked to that photo for example. I know its not the correct value) : [img:250:187]http://2.imimg.com/data2/VN/NL/MY-3747267/ceramic-resistors-250x250.jpg[/img] Any concern changing over the metal encased version above? Given this is in the p...

Re: Good amp gone quiet - Troubleshooting Thread...
1K 25W dead. Thankfully I had a spare on hand. Popped it in and the amp is breathing fire again... That is one chunky component so all the TLC from storage workers must have killed it... I am tempted to glue the new one in with silicone or something but I recall reading about the need to leave some ...

Good amp gone quiet - Troubleshooting Thread...
Yikes, I left my Express build alone for about a year (long story, in between places, stored up etc) and fired her up today only to find I get no sound. Fuse check ok. Quick tube swaps yielded no change. I pulled her out and started voltage checks with no tubes installed and first off... Edit. Heate...

Gorgeous but what's with the tube chart? It looks like some mice chewed its edges. Wonder what else they nibbled in there.

My pleasure. Seems like a lot of like minded folk has walked the same path so I hope we can find some tangible outcomes.

Re: Essential components to recreate the EXPRESS sound....
It's knowing which tolorence and combinations to use. Remember everything has a tolerance of +/- 20%. It's not luck that makes a TW. Keep in mind the forum is basing every clone off of only several amplifiers and just pictures not metered values. most of the ~100 amps had some sort of special voici...
