Re: VVR Install Problems

I don't have any experience with these kind of voltage limiting circuits yet, neither have digged into London's Power Scaling, not into Dana's VVR yet...

... but after pure logic it seems, that after the corrected schem above it's the only way to go - but still shouldt be confirmed from Dana!

Re: VVR Install Problems

Have you finally noticed, that in all 3 previous schems the OT's CT was connected to ground, what in a 'real' amp wouldt make the amp very very quiet  Just in this minute I intended to give you the hint, but it's already corrected now. Nice, that you're using the PPIMV after my idea :D @ Dana ...

Re: DIY Airbrake...

So after 14 pages it seems, that probably everybody meanwhile got his layout of the brake.

Just to complete my personal schem & layout collection I'd like to get one too.

Please send it to my email and just use the email button below this post.

Thanks!

Re: Heater wiring in a straight line?

Soldano also doesn't twist heater wires! Look at the photo of a SLO100 below!

But to be honest, I couldn't live with the noise floor, a SLO100 is producing in the Lead sound from Gain half open onwards.

Re: express: swap the 1k/25w resistor for a choke or more?

As I already wrote in another topic I really can't recommend to reduce the supply voltage difference between the plates and screens in an Express by using a choke! The 'Express Sound' partial benefits from the extreme mismatch of the OT's primary impedance, when EL34's are used (6.6K instead of ~3.5...

Re: Express Documents

... 15-18Vdc difference between the OT c/t voltage and the screen-grid voltage feeds. This would not be the case if a choke were to be used and I'm wondering if this voltage difference could be significant in the Express 'performance characteristics'. I really can't recommend to reduce the supply v...

And I thought, that's maybe a Sado/Maso version of this amp

Re: Dave Funk's Tube Amp School

I have never seen a single informational post from Dave in any of the major forums that was just helpful. He did, but it's already long ago! Maybe at a time, as TAG, TGP, HC, aso. still weren't alive? Look here and scoll a bit down, then you'll find posts from Dave a few times: http://xoomer.alice....

Re: Trim Potis inside of the Ceriatone

Hi Gregor, a while ago I've had the same amp on my bench, to dumble-ize it still more than it was. The voltages of the Ceriatone are spot-on correct, also most of the board's components. I've tweaked some values - but an important tweak has been, to swap the choke! The Ceriatone choke - seen on the ...

Re: Film Resistor Question

The 1st tube also contributes significantly to the hiss level in this setup. I taped the hiss level from about 10 different 12ax7s during my crusade. Then eyeballed the volume levels of each and listened to each on it's own track on Sonar (Cakewalk.) Unfortunately the quietest 2 were a little micro...

Re: How Important is the physical OT Placement, hum question

FWIW the Soldano SLO has the OT over at the preamp end and it's a high gain amp. Not only Soldano does it this way: [img:800:533]http://www.larry-amplification.de/dino939/dino061-01.jpg[/img] [img:1024:604]http://www.larry-amplification.de/britishpurist2/4735.1.jpg[/img] My chassis are made of stai...
