Re: Final build diagram with all changes
At the risk of being accused of beating a dead horse... I still don't understand why connecting the wiper and the bottom lug of the presence pot together and then to the cap which goes to ground is electrically different then connecting nothing to the bottom lug. If the bottom lug is not connected t...

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
The schematics all seem to show that bottom lug connected to the wiper, and the cap between there and ground. So, I should connect the cap btween the wiper and ground and disconnect the bottom lug, while the top lug is connected to a resistor and then to ground? Sorry if I seem dense. The informatio...

Re: Mallory Orange Drops?
It seems to me that .02 would be within the 10% tolerance of a .022.
Can anyone enlighten me on the vertical lines?

Re: Mallory Orange Drops?
I also found a bunch of ceramic disc caps and some caps that look like silver mica ones that I have, but they are different colors. Can anyone tell me if the different colors are indicative of any thing noteworthy? I've noticed that ceramic discs are preferred over silver mica at Amp Garage, but at ...

Mallory Orange Drops?
I was rummaging through some bins of old caps that my brother had and found some orange drops with the following label: .10-400V PVC401-10% MALLORY Is this a suitable choice for a D'clone pre amp? I also found some marked: SPRAGUE 6PS-S47 .047 +/- 10% 600DC Both caps have a vertical line on the righ...

Re: Bass control behavior...normal?
I just completed a D'Lite 22, following the "No Bass Mod" (no jumper on the bass pot). My initial reaction was that the PAB and OD modes were great, but the clean was somewhat thin and way too bright. Today I had a chance to play a little while with some jumper clips. Connecting the wiper to the Rig...

Re: Bass control behavior...normal?
Bob, I know. I mentioned this in my earlier posts on this thread. The issue is that they disconnect the lugs in normal stack mode. They also did not use the second half of the relay to disconnect them in PAB mode. Their bass mode essentially totally alters tonestack operation (unless PAB is on) Not...

PAB
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but, as I understand it, the PAB works by removing the tone stack from the signal path (rendering the TMB pots useless), which boosts the signal.
If so, would building a pre amp completely without the tone stack sound the same as one having the PAB engaged?

Re: Some "Dumbled" questions
George L is +/- 40pf/ft. A little high IMHO- Can you please recommend a suitable low capacitance cable and where to source it? I did see that Apex Jr. had a few different choices for shielded coax, but I couldn't figure out which one would be appropriate. Is there a code to the part/model numbers?

Re: Some "Dumbled" questions
Also, get low capacitance shielded cable for the areas that require it. How do I discover the capacitance of a shielded cable? Just measure the cable. Set a capacitance meter on pF and measure 1ft of cable from shield to conductor. I haven't measured George L cable. So, I cut one foot of cable. And...

Also, get low capacitance shielded cable for the areas that require it. How do I discover the capacitance of a shielded cable? How about using George L's guitar cable for shielded cable? I have a few feet that I'm not using lately. Would this be acceptable? George L works great if you pull the sign...

Pre Tube Choices
Hello, I am preparing for my first D'Lite build. I want to solicit a quick survey. What are your favorite tube choices for V1 (Clean), V2 (O.D.) and V3 (P.I.). Does anyone like using any of the other 12a_7 tubes? If so, which ones are worth trying and where do they work best. Which tubes should I av...
