Re: Hot rod deluxe carcass - what should I do with it? ideas?

They are a pretty good platform for a 5E5 circuit even using the existing transformers. It would have to use diodes for rectifiers unless you add a 5V transformer...

Re: Odd filament circuit in an AA165 Bassman

I thought about adding a trimmer, but elected to just make the bias adjustable. I can't get the damn thing to clean up for anything though. Bias is just below 60%, but the amp just sound dirty... driving me crazy! I'm wondering if I have a failing coupling cap that is causing this ugly distortion...

Re: Odd filament circuit in an AA165 Bassman

I'm thinking that the PT must have been replaced a very long time ago as the area where the center tap was soldered to the chassis looks to have been poorly done... in fact the center tap only had one strand of wire left and it was causing some very strange voltage readings... voltage lower than exp...

Odd filament circuit in an AA165 Bassman

I have a AA165 or AB165 Bassman on the bench with an odd filament circuit that I've not seen before. The PT has not center tap on the filament circuit and there is no artificial center tap using 100K resistors either. Rather on V1 pin 4, there is a .05 600V capacitor going to ground. Though I plan t...

Re: Just ordered a new station

I've been using a Hakko 936 for about 10 years and have never even had to replace a heating element, though it has burned through several tips. I have been well satisfied with it. The newer model is butt ugly, but if it's anywhere as durable as the 936, it's a champ!

The plural of chassis is chassis... the differentiation is in the way it is pronounced... chas-ee = singular, chas-eez = plural

I don't think this matters that much... I chose to use the bolt through the feet on my cab to attach the chassis to the cab as well...

Re: Express build done- almost there

The hiss is not unusual for an Express... it's a high gain amp. That being said, my Express clone doesn't hiss as much as my 1969 Marshall Super Lead when both are cranked...
