Re: Anyone built a trainwreck and not liked it?
Interesting post and I love mine. I'd be interetsed in some of the non-tube and non-speaket tweaking that has been done. My band members love the lead tone but have not given the amp great reviews for chording, they say its too aggressive. They are used to me playing either a marshall JTM 45, twead...

Re: Ceriatone Expression bias question
Maybe he thought it sounded better.
I set my bias by meter for 70% then adjust by ear.

Toneslut is a supplier of power and output transformers; which are very close to the original Trainwreck units.
I do not know of any other makers; but if you ask around I'm sure one of the builders here would be willing to help you.

Re: Ordering a TW clone from Ceriatone, what upgrades?
If you are ordering a completed amp get it with tubes, and use those for all trouble shooting/moding. Plan to get better valves later on in the tuning stage. Get the 2 above mentioned mods. The output transformer primary-selector is also a cool thing to have. You could find which tap sounds good to ...

Question about OT's
So I was looking at getting myself a toneslut OT.
Would replacing just the OT in my ceriatone make the most difference or should I replace the PT too?
The toneslut PT doesnt have a 6V tap which I want to keep for future mods.
Thanks
Edit: opps wrong forum. Omar you can move this if you like.

Back on topic
Maybe we can get back on topic for a bit. I had a few thoughts about this whole issue. I go to a jam spot where multiple bands rent hourly. So, when I was packing up for the night; I had my clone sitting out. Everyone asked what it was and I told them straight up, "It's based off a Trainwreck Expres...

Re: Anyone built a trainwreck and not liked it?
Drz400, What type of cab and speakers did you use? What type of tubes? Did you use an attenuator? Gut shots? Did you use it in a band setting? Tried V30's in a 4x12 G12M's in a 4x12 1x12 with V 30 and 2 golds in an open back 2x12 tubes ... I tried a few powers, have some NOS preamps lying around, I...
