Re: 6U8A for Marshall kind of Preamp
Well you mentioned a "Marshall kind of Preamp" and the imperfectly designed C.F. is definitely part of that sound, but yeah you are free to approach this with a blank slate for sure. 8) My view of self-split is that it leans towards a single-ended sound/vibe but with the benefits of noise-cancelling...

Re: 6U8A for Marshall kind of Preamp
I have used this tube feeding a self-split power section and a 5E3 tone circuit. The way I used it, I would say It's just OK. I used the designs over at the SEWatt/PPWatt/etc. forums and their design is based on the "these values work for the EF86 so they will work just fine for this pentode" mindse...

Re: Box joints are kicking my butt-ox
https://www.kregtool.com/store/c13/kreg-jigsreg/p36/kreg-jigreg-k5/ Fantastic product right there. Yes it works great with 1/2" stock. I just built a pine combo cab (painted) for an Ibanez TSH-15 using it. Came out great. I also built a garage full of cabinets out of plywood with it, but that's a wh...

Re: Box joints are kicking my butt-ox
Box joints are fine for wooden box factories. Butt joints, glue blocks, and modern glues are going to make joints that are as strong as the wood you’re using. +1 IMO, pocket holes and glue are where it's at baby. Box/dovetail joints are great when building with hardwoods that are going to be dyed/s...

Re: Fender S-1 switch wiring?
S1's are a regular in-stock item at AES/CE Dist so I wouldn't worry about longevity. Folks over at the Seymour Duncan forums report having used them for many years without issue. In fact, that would be a good place to search for wiring options too. I have a guitar with one (Fender Deluxe Roadhouse) ...

I also love the contrast between that other guitar player's TWO pedalboards vs Robben rockin a Strymon and another mystery pedal... and that's it.

Re: Something different for Mr Ford...
Yeah that could be it but there is also a black tolexed/chassis-strapped amp you can see from the back at about 1:50 and beyond that has a couple mics on it too.
Can't tell 100% but it doesn't look like that tweed is miced-up.

I love Scary Pockets.
I love Robben Ford.
Dang that guy can sing too!
Enjoy...
I think he's playing straight into a Princeton? Maybe through a Timeline first?

Re: Chassis Design
I wish my memory was better than it is... maybe someone can help out... There is a chassis builder who does custom sizes and will drill as little or as many holes as you want from your designs for reasonable prices, including the dreaded IEC cutout. Does great work. Dang it... what's his name??? The...

Re: Chassis Design
Yeah I was going to go down the road to bending my own chassis but the more I looked into it, the more I decided that for me it would be more efficient/cost-effective to just buy them pre-made and drilling them myself. It is definitely my least-favorite part of a build by a long-shot... lol. Especia...

Re: Chassis Design
While it can be done in Inkscape, you really should look into a full-blown CAD program for chassis design for eventual CNC manufacturing. There are really good free ones out there that run on a variety of platforms... Win/Mac/Linux. They are not really hard to figure out for stuff as simple as accur...
