Re: Pignose G40V Project

Interesting. The article from Mr. Fowler cites Dennis Kager as the designer, if I read it correctly. Same guy behind Sundown Amps. Sorry to derail.

I ran across this today. The story caught my attention the first time through and stayed with me.

Don't get into the car payment trap. Buy a little better car. A new car will cost $400 a month for a very long time.

Sometimes they have a thermal cutoff. Have you tried blowing the dust out of it?

Re: Seven Lessons from How Private Equity Wrecked Guitar Center

Same story here. When I was researching digital mixers, I went to the local GC to see if they could demo a couple boards. I soon found out that I knew more about it from skimming through the manuals on line than the people that work there. The last straw for me was dropping in for strings (GHS Custo...

Nice find. That one is original original! I had one a 25 years ago or so. For the life of me I can't remember who I traded it off to.

Re: Speakers in Cab: Aim Straight Ahead?

I have a few BF Fenders with tilt-back legs. I am not crazy about having them aimed right at my ears because I can't hear the rest of the band very well, but we don't play very loud (anymore!). Also, the amps seem quite a bit brighter when aimed directly at me. To each their own.

On order. Sometime in the distant future I can retire and read these books enough times to absorb the material.

Re: Speaker reconing JBL 265F-1

It depends on what the kit includes. I reconed 4 JBL speakers so far, but the kit had the voice coil attached to the cone and suspension. It came with the shims and glue. If you get all that stuff, it is not too hard. I think they call it a drop in kit or something like that. You literally drop it i...

Re: Rant: A Tale of 2 TV's

I have written instructions for my wife on how to operate the TV, but she still struggles with it. I went to the Amazon Fire stick and it works well for me for streaming and you don't have to do a separate cable for sound through the stereo. I can't stand TV sound through the stereo. Since the world...

Have you tried chopsticking? It sounds like a bad (or forgotten) solder joint that opens up with heat if I were to guess.

Happy late burfday freak
If you had those guitars plugged into SRV's sequentially numbered Vibroverbs, THAT would be impressive.

Edit - I should have written a much better 1000th post

Re: Airbrake Wattage Rating - Oversight maybe?

Littlewyan, I sold that one last year. I have had a half a dozen Marshall amps and that one by far was the loudest. Way too much power for anything I do. I still use it on my Express for rehearsals and it works fairly good. At -6dB I still have some clean left. -9dB is pushing it a bit, but still us...
