Marshall Split Channel / Single Channel
I am converting my Marshall JCM800 4210 to 4010 (50w split channel in a 1 -12" combo to the single channel version) I have done a half a dozen tweaks and have never been satisfied with the sound of this amp. I am dumping the reverb and effect loop and dropping in a new turret board to make a straigh...

Re: RIP Gary Richrath - REO
I just saw this one. Sad indeed. Golden Country and Flying Turkey Trot are two of my favorite REO tracks.
I did not see a cause of death. 65 seems pretty young to me these days.

Re: 69 Deluxe Reverb wiring
When they got away from the cloth covered wire the lead dress suffered. Still a great amp though.

Re: Early Zeppelin in Paris.
I finally found a chance to watch the first clip. The most amazing part to me is that Bonham is able to change shirts and change back without missing a beat! Oh, and that drumming thing he does was pretty good too.

Re: What was the first album / CD you bought?
On vinyl, it was Bachman Turner Overdrive's Four Wheel Drive album. I believe my first 8-track was Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic. I had one of those portable 8-track players that looked like a detonator box. The handle on top was to change tracks. I carried that thing everywhere as a young teen.

Re: Sano 300RC Schematic Search
I would say that the 250 is built a little differently. Everything is in one chassis, but the construction looks similar. I would be surprized if they didn't share some circuit design.

Sano 250r
Here is the schematic for a Sano 250 that I repaired a couple of years ago for a friend. It is an accordion amplifier. The tremolo is magical. Not very loud though.

Re: "Electronics Technology."
I also have an associates in Electronics. It has been 27 years now. My classmates scattered in all directions as far as career paths. Being in Texas, there was a lot of opportunity in Oil and Gas and I have done pretty good for myself. I did have to work my way up through the business and it took qu...

Re: How did you get into tube gear?
I too was born in 1963. I have vague memories of the tube tester at the local hardware store. I started playing guitar when I was nine, but I was sixteen before I got my first electric guitar. I went through a couple of transister amps before I could afford a used tube amp. In Houston in the early t...

Re: Schematic & Layout Drawing?
Mr. Fahey makes some good points. I use 3D modeling software at work. The learning curve is extremely steep, weeks of training, then a couple of months of struggling to become productive. Personally, when I find time to actally design something (tube amp related), I will use Visio. There is enough p...

Re: Express - Exploring 12AX7s
vintage 12AX7 types can still be had at reasonable prices. Organ pulls can be cheaper than new production tubes on eBay and sometimes here. I ordered NOS Tunsgrams when I built my Express (because it was recommended in the build notes) and was happy from the begining. I fired it up initially with so...

Re: Where are the amp builds?
I am slowly preparing for a rebuild. I am converting a 4210 to a 2204 combo. I owe a lot to the forum for the knowledge. I'll start a thread when I get under way. Basically I am starting with an empty chassis and the transformers, so it is mostly a build.

If you really want to re-use the eyelette boards, you might try treating them (carefully) with a heat gun. I have done it one a vintage Fender that I rebuilt with good results.

He is one of the few that Chet Atkins bestowed the CGP moniker on. His version of classical gas is amazing.

Re: HOW MUCH DO I NEED?!?!?!?!?!
This is a shame. I am not the best player, but I get a lot of joy out of doing it. Sometimes you have to look backwards to go forward. Is there a time when you really found your bliss playing guitar? Your answer is there.
