Re: Sunn Model A
First, thanks for the reply.. WIRE FIX.... Solder the wires directly to the PCB instead of the clip harness. You might want to try alligator clips first to see if that really does solve the problem. Also check all grounds you might find that something is loose to ground... make sure all the screws a...

Sunn Model A
Got a friend's Model A on my bench. Overall it's in decent shape considering it's around 40 years old. Few things I want to try to fix though. 1. V1 is super microphonic. Switching to a known good tube did nothing to fix it. I'm inclined to thing it may be a failure in the spot where the wire harnes...

Re: PreSonus FireBox, CUBASE, PRO TOOLS
You might also try Reaper: http://www.reaper.fm Coded by Justin Frankl (the guy who wrote winamp), 50 bucks if you're not using it for profit. The trial version never expires so payment is on the honor system. That said, it's pro quality stuff, supports most plugins, comes with a bunch of free ones....

Re: PreSonus FireBox, CUBASE, PRO TOOLS
I Have a couple of questions. 1. Does anyone here have experience with using a FireBox and CUBASE in Windows 7. I am trying to get these working together but am failing! 2. Does anyone here know if ProTools LE can be used with a FireBox? Forgive me if you've already tried this, but the first place ...

Re: Kill switches anyone?
12V would work fine if you used a relay to switch the mains power. I don't know if there'd be any logistical or safety issues but the concept seems sound.

Re: mini z
I have no idea I have never heard one. :) Doesn't look like it would be worth the effort. :D Fire up the one at marguerite's sometime. It's actually not awful. It's sort of a fuzzier looser breakup than some of the other Zs, but it does it's own cool thing. I'd never buy one, and probably would nev...

Re: Laydown PT -> Standup PT
Thanks for the replies, all! I couldn't see anything wrong with it but experience has taught me that my not seeing a problem doesn't mean there's no problem just waiting to bite me where the sun don't shine. If I had thought about L brackets, I probably would not have done it this way: I thought of ...

So close, Dart, but I've edited your post with the correct lyrics, according to me and my buddies when we were in 2nd grade.dartanion wrote:SAVE BIG MONEY AT MY NARDS

Laydown PT -> Standup PT
I have a couple of transformers and a chassis just perfect for them, except that real estate's in short supply and both PT and OT are laydown. I'm wondering if there's any harm in flipping them on their side and attatching them with L brackets. I can't see why this would matter, except that the bolt...

Yeah, I think I'll just leave mine in the loop and forget about it, why would I ever switch it off?stoo wrote:I wonder if I can get one without a true-bypass!

Re: Effects loop pre or post MV?
Hey Gang, I'm working on a 70's style build based loosely on #40. As we know, #40 does not have a proper effects loop, just a pre-master vol preamp out. In you guys valued opinion, if I wanted to turn this into a full-fledged loop, would it be best to implement this by tapping right off the preamp ...

Re: I KILLED IT... (neg feedback)
NFB isn't in at the moment. i started with it out, it sounded great, i connected it, things got crippled... i swapped the OT into my (working) champion 600 and it's fine. i have checked and swapped almost every component in and out so far and i am nowhere nearer to finding out what the problem is. ...
