Re: Gibson EH150 Amp
I agree with unklmickey. If you look at the pot at the top of the schem between the pre and power sections (volume pot? I don't know my way around a an amp schematic very well yet) reads "1 meg" whereas everything else is "200M" or "20M" or whatever, in places that subbing 'k' for 'M' would make a l...

Re: boogie express
'Tis true that the class switching thing is no big deal but I still think it could be a cool amp. Its a boogie, and it's potentially pretty versatile. I still won't have any real opinion til I've heard it.

Re: boogie express
It's actually switchable between 1 tube single ended at 5 watts and 2 tubes pushpull either 25 or 50 watts. The 5:25 has EL84s and the 5:50 has 6L6s. Both amps have 2 modes (clean and crunch) and two channels in each mode (blues and burn) and the power switching is independent for each channel (thou...

Cap and resistor in series
I see this all the time in amp circuits. What exactly does it do. I want to know both what purpose it serves sonically and how the components interact with each other and the rest of the circuit electrically.

Re: Current Flow
The book is great. I actually had a copy a while ago but wasn't ready for it at the time. Now I'm at the stage where I'm almost comprehending it. I've got a fantastic book on how tubes work and a radio manual with some really good basic electronics stuff so I'm that much closer. Thanks for the help.

I've been hellbent on building an amp from scratch ever since I heard my first TW clip. I started from having next to no experience with electronics, so I have been reading electronics books, radio manuals, etc. Those are all well and good, and have explained to some extent how individual components...
