Re: UNCOVERED: Fender 5D6-A with New Serial Number Series
Yes. I just pulled several Vintage Fender Amps off Ebay. Got ahead. No need to make low-ball deals and then pay EBay, pay Paypal, and freakin' package the darn things in such a way no damage will be done. This morning I packed and shipped two guitars with HSCases. Big boxes. Took an hour each to ma...

Re: UNCOVERED: Fender 5D6-A with New Serial Number Series
Hi, Plexi50! Been a few months since we chatted. The weird part of the 1955 "EC" "0823" 5D6-A Bassman serial number is: 1) "0823" would logically follow the November "DK" 1954 5D6 "0700-0783" Bassman series 2) the "EC 1955 March" build date jumps the December "DL" 1954 5D6 "0001-0089" Bassman builds...

Re: Weber Mass 200 versus 1950s Tweed Amps * OK or BAD to use???
Don't know how many of the guys posting on this thread have a Weber Mass, I do, hunnerd watter. I love it. Yep, diming the amp and attenuating to a whisper is a rookie move that hurts stuff if allowed to go on for a while. Sounds like you like things at a lower side of the vol pot anyway, just do i...

Almost finished need to connect line out and put into cab. Played it some tonight but babies sleeping so tomorrow is the work out. :) MFowler ~ Just wondering . . . . The two photos above are with out a grill to pass air through the front to backside, after that amp chassis is installed. Did you th...

Re: 6G6B Bassman, airbrake, blown OT, tears
"As I see it, I have the following options: A. Buy a new, high-quality replacement OT (Mercury magnetics or whatever the cool kids are into these days). B. Find a Bassman OT from '64 or thereabouts (do these ever even appear on the market? What sort of prices would I be looking at?) C. Get it rewou...

Re: Tremolo speaker?
Build two:
1) with Jensen P15N or C15P
2) with Jensen C12N or P12P
You are looking for that 1960s tremolo sound, right?
Make either amp able to swap out speakers for different tones.
Good luck. Toppscore

Re: Would you REMOVE GOOD working filter caps on 1950s Fenders?
Once I would have, but gave up trying to fit small caps inside. Keep them, collectors are changing, you see it in cars, motorcycles... it's like old furniture now, untouched originals are becoming more valuable then perfect restores. Keep the mouse turds and insect wings too. Thanks, RP! I have the...

Re: AB Box Output Possibilities ~ Will ONE Wreck an Amp?
Wow!!! Are Roger Mayer products high-priced :!: :!: :!: I'm about "purchased-out". After I get used my new "mid-priced" pedals & preamps, will see what is actually used or favored towards music I play. Down the road, will step-up to the top-of-the-line pedal effects. Last item still seeking = An ana...

Re: NOS ANOS GZ34 Crazy Prices
Recently I purchased three NOS unused
1954 GE JAN-CG-5Y3GT Black Pater rectifier tubes.
Two were a matched pair for my 1950s Bassman.
Are they worth anything? Desirable?
Worse/Better than Mullards?

Re: AB Box Output Possibilities ~ Will ONE Wreck an Amp?
Well the 3PDTs arrived today! Fast service from http://pedalparts.co.uk/. The A/B side is in - blue for A, yellow for B. Working fine - no pops or crackles. This is not for the faint hearted, you need to do work on the PCB... warranty will be invalid. I will tackle the Y section tomorrow. Red for b...

Re: GUITAR~AMP Stompbox/Rack/Effects ~ Chain Order LineUp ADVICE
Vibratoking: “What are you feeding the DI output to? A DI box will not 'clean-up' any noise presented to it's input. I would typically use a DI to send a feed to the PA, so I would want it last in the chain right before the amp or better yet, pull a line level signal off the amp's output on the way...

Thanks, NickC. Nice collection of pedals.
To me, IMHO, this thread is about what goes after the guitar including preamps.
~what makes the amp and speaker sound good. Kind of a tweener subject
No biggie ~ why I put it in the Fender section for my Fender tube amps
