I just figured that higher impedance meant more turns of wire, making the secondaries different... I need to read more OT theory
Haven't ordered a choke yet, but will go for 159q i think. I have a Fender replacement, NSC125C1A, but that wont work, will it?

Re: Mercury Magnetics
Tommy MM states good for TW Express, Liverpool or Rocket since the OT is dual HT 5k2 and 6k6. So that would be a good choice. Drew I might try that 5k2 in a zwreck and see what the difference would be compared to my 4k3 Dynaco clone. I did use a Hammond 158L choke in another build but wished I had ...

Re: Mercury Magnetics
Bob, yes I have 4 or 5 Rocket varieties maybe more I lost track, great amps for sure. Each one is different. For my Zwreck I ended up using: HTS 9144 PT 280v HTS 8093-1 OT 4k3 Hammond 159Q choke 7h 150mA DC Drew your liking the 5k2 in your Zwreck, great I was wondering if some were going to go that...

Re: Mercury Magnetics
Tdale, I used these exact trannies in my Z wreck and couldn't be happier! I don't think you'll be disappointed. To my ears they have a very rich and full sound. I've used a lot of Mercury Iron and have nothing but praises for the iron they make. BTW, what choke are you planning on using? Drew Not s...

Mercury Magnetics
I went ahead and ordered both the PT and OT gransformer from Mercury Magnetics. Everyone I've asked, say that they are great/the best transformers, but too expencive. They sure are, but I thought that I'd go for it anyway. After all, the OT is the most important part in an amp I've been told several...

Re: What OT for my Z-wreck build
Yes, the price is very high.... Most people say that the OT is the single most important tone component, so I suppose that's the place to spend money...but are they that much better than all the others, that cost half, or even one third?

Re: What OT for my Z-wreck build
Thanks! I'll go for the 470 OT, no doubt about that! I'll have to check for the PT, 120V is a problem... If you ever come up with a different PT you think would be good, feel free to let me know :) By the way, how important is the speed/comfort switch? I was planning to go for a PT with about 280-29...

What OT for my Z-wreck build
Should I go for a VOX type OT, or would a Fender replacement sound good too? The VOX OT's I've seen, usually have only two output impedances, while Fender has three.
What would be a good OT for my build?
And what about PT? Is the Hammond, VOX vintage any good?

Budapest once more
I asked about Budapest before, and got no answers really. Anyone in here from Budapest? I'm now looking for ordinary radio/amp stores who sell capacitors, resistors and maybe tube sockets.
Anyone?
Anyone?
