With no tubes in at pin 5 of V4 or V5 I was reading around 24.7ma. So I knew something was waaaaay off.
You should be reading voltage here, not current.
And it should be negative voltage.

Re: What makes Dumble style amp sound better?

Without getting into those areas that one has to believe in for it to exist, (magic, Mojo, etc.) seasoned simply means it has been subjected to numerous heating-cooling cycles, and has developed a 'patina' of rust on the exposed untreated surfaces. It's possible that the cycling can drive off moistu...

50V filament vs 6.3V otherwise much the same. Now where do you get a 50V filament transformer . . .
Series string.

Re: Cathodyne PI help -- no plate/grid/cathode = sound?

If there's NFB, signal could be following the path from the pre-PI driver to the OT secondary.
It'd be pretty low though.

Re: which knobs

Chicken heads (once called "pointer" knobs) are apparently the current fad. I can't tell you how many pieces of equipment back in the day we pulled the pointers from and threw out. Usually replaced with more modern looking fluted instrumentation knobs, now popularly known as "MXR style" knobs. [img:...

Re: PM not working?

Happened to me a few days ago. I tried it again the following day and it worked OK. A more annoying problem that has been ongoing for at least three years is the inability of the PM system to handle attachments. It simply will NOT do it, and I have to assume it cannot be fixed since it has been goi...

Rdjones, not sure what or whom your post alludes to, but if for any reason it involves me, PM me. It does. Answering an email within 24 hours seems like the easy part. Making good on a $40 order when you've "been busy" with deals worth thousands of dollars, not so easy. It's been over 6 months ... ...

Re: Looks like Quinn is going under

FWIW: Despite what's going on in your life, you should get out front of it and keep people who sent you thousands of dollars in the loop. It's not fair to leave people hanging like that. But if it's "only" 39.95 plus shipping it's OK to scam a buyer and give them the brush-off when you get called o...
