Re: TR JM Signature Build
Thanks guys for the kind words. I went to the local music store to buy some tubes and they are out of stock, nothing left, it is crazy. I need to order some online. Tried again the preamp through another build and everything works fine although the switch for the contour knob seems to have no effect...

TR JM Signature Build
Hey guys, It's been a while, and I have been busy building a TR JM Signature. - 3 way bright switch - LNFB on a switch - 3 way gain structure - contour bypass - HT fuses Again, took my time to try and source some period correct part, and recycled an old Fender PA100 for PT, OT choke and reverb parts...

Re: Dumble Ripper layout
Very interesting thread. I really dig Carlton's video, love the way the amp blooms and get into feedback very naturally without being overwhelming. Is the Ripper #189? One of my favorite tone for Larry is the tour with Steve Lukather and their rendition of "we ended as lovers". I think Larry was usi...

Re: Overdrive - second stage #124
Interesting! Did you record sound samples ? I would like to document the different build (clean and OD side ), low and high plate, skyliner vs classic etc... so I am assembling a master breadboard where I will be able to switch components to sample sound in the same environment with constants. It fe...

Re: Tweedle Dee / mods or not?
Hey ChopSauce, did you measure AC or DC voltages where you think your board is conductive? Have you confirmed the leakage before you reddo everything?
I usually order my boards on eBay straight from China, at the cheapest price ,FR4 material, and so far no issue..

Re: tweedle dee 5e3 tweed deluxe clone
Nice build!
What type of MV did you implement, as it is not stock on the Tweedle Dee?
What would the choke add ? Filtering? Hum cancellation? Any effect on the sound or feel of the amp?
What speaker do you plan to use for this? Celestion Rocket or something else?

Re: Isolating jacks from the chassis
I mostly have the faceplates printed on aluminum, I usually prefer the look it has. Order of flat washers on the way, and thanks @sluckey for the reference for the longer threaded bushing, if the price difference is minor, I might consider these than the usuals, as two shoulder washer is definitely ...

Re: Isolating jacks from the chassis
Fantastic! Thank you guys, you are an amazing ressource!
@chopSauce, that is what I would do as well on a silk screen chassis for example. But I mostly order faceplates and if you add up the shoulder washer X2 + chassis +faceplate, then you can't lock the jack anymore

Isolating jacks from the chassis
Hey guys, I bought on Hoffman's forum some plastic shoulders that you slide onto the jacks to isolate them from the chassis. Trouble is these are a little too big if you use two pieces (one inside and one outside. I found on an old RCA tube projector these great little piece (these probably date bac...

Re: HRM in a Tweedle Dee?
I tested it, I remembered I had an old HRM board sitting somewhere from a build I rescued. So I plugged it into the normal channel and it worked fine. There is a little signal loss compared to the bright channel but nothing to worry about. I would like that settings to shape the sound when in cascad...

Re: HRM in a Tweedle Dee?
@professormudd if you did Rob's cascade high gain / cacsade mod, you have the following: 1- interactive EQ between normal and bright channels 2- norm chan cascading into bright chan when cascade mod engaged 3-high gain mod on the normal channel You could add the HRM EQ on one channel, but would prob...

Re: HRM in a Tweedle Dee?
Heu guys, Interesting idea... I have been playing with cascading the two channels while trying to keep the original bright channel. So I guess you could add the HRM board to the normal channel in order to voice it differently and tweak for the cascade setting so that the EQ would be switch d only on...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Sorry guys for the late reply, been busy yesterday and could not work on the amp. @Richard1001 yes when I took the measurements, my mains was a low 117, and i had 43v on the bias tap instead of 50v. My setup is as follow : 3k3 dropping resistor > 1n4007 diode > 47uf 160v (as the original Dumble layo...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Oh, yeah. I had #54 around for a bit which is a 3rd Gen. (sort of) and it had a 22k dropper. You could brighten up the preamp by lowering the 27k dropper but you may lose some of that cool organic feel of the lower voltages. I love those darker mid rich tones, good to know that is one way to bright...
