This one looks fun:

By the way, that’s a beautiful cabinet. Did you make it? What species of wood is that?
Ciao,
Lou

Re: New amp power up concerns
The schematic doesn’t match the layout in terms of the preamp tube labels. Am I correct in assuming you hear pops at V2, pins 1, 2 and 3; and you do not hear pops at V2, pins 7, 8 and 9? I think maybe I’ve spotted the issue. You said there is no efx loop in the build at the moment, is that right? If...

Re: New amp power up concerns
I am not familiar with your circuit, so this is a shot in the dark, based on statements you’ve made. If the leds in the preamp are from the 12ax7 cathode to ground, and it isn’t lighting, my guess would be you’ve got the led wired the wrong way ‘round: 12ax7 cathode to led anode, and led cathode to ...

Re: Help! 5e3 electrolytic capacitor explosion !
A very long time ago, I remember hearing that electrolytics, on rare occasion, are wired backwards at the factory (mismarked). I don’t know if that holds true in this age of total automation, but this could explain why this happened. Ciao, Lou Edit: another possibility is a miswire in the rectifier ...

Re: Need some advice from the experts: Shower Remodel
Thank you, one and all for your suggestions. I’ve been able to find polyurethane caulks, but not just urethane; is there a difference? I also kind of like Phil’s suggestion using fiberglass resin... At this point, I’ve removed the green board on the two short walls as it was not in good shape after ...

Nice! I am definitely following this one. What simulation app are you running, Roberto? Does it come with tubes in its library? And does it do a decent job of simulating tubes in real world applications?

Need some advice from the experts: Shower Remodel
Hi All, I have a shower stall that needs new waterproof covering. Three walls with a shower curtain for the fourth wall. I’ve stripped the old covering from the walls and brought it down to the green board. The plan is to cover the walls with FRP. We’ve bought the FRP panels as well as inside- and o...

Re: Solder getting into a 9-pin socket?
Good to hear you got it sorted. I would have suggested you invert the whole thing; tube socket terminals facing up, solder sucker approaching from below. That way, gravity is working in your favor rather than against. One thing to watch for; if I’m not mistaken, dried flux is an insulator, so once t...

Re: Fiddleback Maple JMP 2203 headshell
This looks fantastic; I love the color! Did you use a CNC to route the logo? A dremel with a Stewmac plunge router base and a 1/32" tapered bit. Took about an hour. Russ Yeah, I was afraid that would be your answer....sheesh! 🤣 There are an awful lot of very talented people here. My hat’s off to yo...
