get the EV version if possible, they look totally different, pins, electrodes, everything seems higher quality in EV.
btw, their heaters are hard-wired in parallel, not series. In 12a*7 you have the freedom to choose.

Re: My new Mark IIc+ preamp (PCB layout available)
recorded some clips... Little bit of Dregs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0oZdqoElg0 First some mindless riffing metallica style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsooRtjMdiU and something different that reminded me of my Trainwreck build from few years ago. Very dynamic sound, cleans up completely wi...

Re: I'm giving up on noiseless single coils.
in my country there's a saying "there's no bad slop for a good pig". I'm happy with both dimarzio and kinman humbucking pickups, but I can attribute that to my lack of finesse for single coil sound rather than any talent. But say, Paul Gilbert uses Area pickups and recently his signature Injectors a...

Re: My new Mark IIc+ preamp (PCB layout available)
yeah, that power amp I built to be sooper clean when I want it, but it also has LND150 boosted channel that can get a tad dirty...something like blackface or along those lines

Re: My new Mark IIc+ preamp (PCB layout available)
There's nothing in the front on that clip, although I use MXR overdrive to boost and add more "liquidity" sometimes. After the preamp I have MXR 10 band EQ, TC Repeater delay and then my homebrew 3w poweramp. That's recorded through palmer PDI and 57 mic clone.

My new Mark IIc+ preamp (PCB layout available)
Hi yall, Just wanted to share my latest creation. It's another IIc+, but this time I went for two-channel version using relays to switch channels. Also, I built it on PCB to make it easier to share the layout and inspire people to build their own There are no electrolytics in signal path or power su...

Re: [build log] 3W tube power amp (my design)
Adding some clips. Everything's played clean, guitar into boosted input. I'll record some with pedals in front. Mini Les Paul -> Nan@ Amp (boosted) -> 1x10" cab -> GLS ES-57 mic -> Tascam DP-008 http://diy-fever.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/in_the_name_of_god_mic.mp3 http://diy-fever.com...

[build log] 3W tube power amp (my design)
I've planned to build this thing for over a year, but couldn't find time. Finally, I had few weekends to dedicate and it's all done. Some highlights: * Two 6AK6 (the smallest 6*6 tubes I know of) output tubes in PP * Output tubes are biased with LEDs, 6 white and two red, wired in two parallel array...

Re: Solens in an Express?
I built one preamp with nothing but poly caps in the power supply. They are not solen though, but motor run caps. They are much cheaper but work great.

they do look like el84 on paper but I read a few times about them being too bright or something...sounding bad in general. Try searching on ax84

Re: My DIY Mark IIc+ preamp
Posted another clip on youtube so I thought I'd share http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmIzyH_9F-s Also, for people wanting to build a IIc+ preamp, I drew a PCB layout. It's single sided, home etch friendly version and I kept the clean channel from the original. Switching is done with relays. You can ...

6au6 is a very useful tube, you can use it as a pentode stage or even small power amp
