Hi flood! (No, its not High Flood)
Sorry for responding not so fast...haven't been here for a while.

Ciao&good luck!

Re: Tiny blues express combo / 12AU7 PP w. cathodyne PI
TNX for the kind replies, guys! Currently I inserted large gridstoppers for the output tubes as well. 100k instead of 4k7. More "big amp" like 8) Not to much loss in high frequencies. Lower Miller capacitance, I guess. No more vomiting cows in the power stage. Smoother transition into distortion. Wh...

Re: Tiny blues express combo / 12AU7 PP w. cathodyne PI
TNX, mcrracer! That finish is called "burn baby, burn" 6SN7 as output stage can be done. Requires some altered values. See other postings regarding 12AU7 as power tube for reference. Sound is better into 8k primary load. Triodes dont sound exactly the same as pentodes. But speakers also so...

Tiny blues express combo / 12AU7 PP w. cathodyne PI
Hi! Been foolin' around with a Tiny Blues Express for some time now. It ended up as a combo w. one 8". See http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3029 for Timos original documentation. Slightly changed the layout. Two more resistors mounted on the turret board. Since I decided to use a toroidal ...

Re: Fender Mustang 1 Modeler
Hi! Well, I've not tested one of those... Cabinet made of genuine chirp  board? Waaay cool. Better have a NO SUCK knobbie. Ciao Martin PS: If you get some kinda funny noise out of it, its fine with me. I remember one of Henry Kaisers vids (w. Teuffel Tesla guitar) with some lil cheap Fender o...

Re: tantalum for bypass?
Hi guys! Didn't Reinhold Bogner use them on some of his designs? Never looked into one of his amps, though. He sure knows a thing or two about amp building and tweaking... Lately I bought his VOLKS-amp, the Bogner Alchemist. Nice amp for the money, even doin' some dumble style tones. The pics on the...

Re: taming the liverpool high end?
Hi!
Try searching "conjunctive AND filter". Ho about different speakers? Or some additional damping cloth in front of the speaker? Easy to try and removable.
Whats good for living rooms might not be good on stage...

Hi!
Christopher appeared on German TV recently. He played Arthur and stated, he was touring Japan. He played an acousticg uitar iirc. Slightly updated version of Arthur. NOT BAD.
Good to see and hear him again.

Hi!
Liverpoools -being cathode biased- pretty much like the VVR power scaling thingy. It's easy to scale the whole amp and keep the clean to mean reactivity at different volumes.
Totally turned down you will not be too happy, though.

Re: film/foil cathode bypass caps?
Hi!
You can put small film caps across the electrolytics, too.
I've put film caps in several amps, but mostly prefer bipolars or good electrolytics. It depends on the amp and sound youre after. Stages can get too "fast" ...

Hi!
I'd check solderings around the tube sockets. And -of course- the sockets.
Make sure your inserted sag resistor is well connected/soldered, too.
prolly less than 2c...

Re: Microphonic caps?
Hi! When I built my first TW (TeleWreck), I observed the same with a ceramic cap. The 001 || 001 coupling cap combination. Tried several caps. Seems to my like the quality of the soldering does have a similar effect. Currently there are the 001 || 001 caps again in the TeleWreck without extreme micr...

->totally different preamp with similar Dumble ton...
