Re: Heater Voltage Dropping Resistor Issues
Same here. I suppose a large Schottky diode would do as well or better.sluckey wrote:I would not be concerned with voltage at 6.75 to 6.8.

Re: Windows 10
I'm pondering the 7 to 10 jump, but is it just a clever way for Microsoft to kill my 7 computer? It's a dual core and has been bogged down my incessant security and flash updates. 3.1 GHz Athlon.

Re: JJ EL34 II Review
I've only heard of these from this thread. The plate looks small. Is this a lower powered EL-34? (I could see a niche for that)

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
It's possible that the coax got overheated and there's some melting compromise of the conductors.

Re: Where are the amp builds?
The last scratch amp I built was a Liverpool, which I didn't' like. I converted it into something mostly like a single channel Marshall 36Watt with power scaling. I got back into playing for some time. Now I'm trying resurrect a 5e8-a + power scaling project. In the interim, I've built some pedals a...

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
Your photo "IMG_1046 (1).jpg" that shows a plug stuck in a hole in a board does not look like the Switchcraft 226s that I have. Mine all look exactly like this drawing that came from Switchcraft... That's a G&H. Maybe the OP uploaded the wrong pic by accident. With any cable, the first suspect is u...

Re: Fender Hot Rod DeVille Michael Landau
Subscribed...apparently Fender is behind on posting schematics, so they will email the pdfs of recent amps if you ask. I'm personally unimpressed with the drive/more drive channels on these amps, however, the architecture looks sound. If he's pushed them to tweak the amp a bit, it couldn't hurt and ...

Re: Low Watter Amp - 7 pin output
The Reason Bambino is a 7 pin AB I believe. I like it a lot...I think Obeid said that he meant it to be a Strat amp. Try one out if you ever get the chance.

Re: Classic-Tone Transformers fo AC30
But if that means a $300 Red output tranny, I'll use something else. After using MM outputs in a tone quest with Deluxe reverbs, I found them no better but much more expensive than the four other contenders. Too high a greed factor for me to support. YMMV. Red? Just wondering...the MM Woden I insta...

Re: Classic-Tone Transformers fo AC30
How many ordinary guitar players actually need MM, Woden or Haddon transformers? We had an A/B test with a couple AC30CC1 amps I've worked on. Both set up with a Celestion Gold. One had nearly full Caldwell mods and the other was stock. Essentially, the mods and MM Woden OT compact, rearrange and r...

Re: Black Face Bassman Head problem?
I only have the DVM. I did check the tubes again (cleaned the sockets to). Then I measured the Filter caps voltage- one of the 100uf caps in series measured 234 volts while the other one measured 434 volts? I thought these two should measure the same voltage right? I forget whether you can read the...

Re: Black Face Bassman Head problem?
Something is dying. It could be as simple as a cold solder joint or a bad filter cap in the power supply. It looks like you are capable of working on electronics safely: If the amp's tube chart says it is AA864 and you know it's a '67, then it's an AB165 with the wrong tube chart....unless it's modd...

Re: Classic-Tone Transformers fo AC30
Mercury Magnetics are also quite firm that their Haddon transformer is a great Vox output transformer. So I don't think you can go wrong with either a Haddon or a Woden, if you are after Vox meets Marshall perhaps the Albion transformer is an option? Hi Mark, Albion, Haddon, Woden. RS I haven't got...

BillyZ, the tubes aren't marked. Did you rewire V1 as the parallel stage?
