Re: 1987X with mods any ideas

You can't argue with him,if all the world uses the term "coupling cap",he calls it "bypass cap"....why? Because in his words, that cap bypasses a certain amount of bass frequencies. All in all, another one wire thing with ppimv. Yeah ol’Micheal RT is a character. He gets pretty funny when you call him...

Re: Marshall 30th Anniversary 6100 best Marshall ever?

I think its a good idea to make a simplified version of this amp, which was favored by the great guitarist Michael Casswell, who passed away couple years ago,and he put this along his vintage JTM45 as some of the best especially for playing live, unlike the modern JVM which has good sounds but in his w...

The trick is knowing which o...

Because he used the magic property of the vacuum cleaner cord? Lol

Re: Amp Phase - Am I going mad?

By my reckoning is that the speaker output on the Express is out of phase with the guitar input, and in phase with it in the case of the JTM45. People have claimed to hear a difference when swapping the speaker leads on a combo amp, which I think might have to do with feedback from the speaker to t...

Re: Amp Phase - Am I going mad?

I think i have read somewhere (maybe the Doyle Marshall book) that jtm45 and Bassman were opposite phase,i think the speakers were reverse polarity in Marshall.

Original Soho had a 100k on the gain stage and 180k on cathode follower, 470k /22n to the blackface tonestack. Exactly, although from photos I've been given, I believe they now use 68k/22n to the tonestack. (my fault was putting the right components on the wrong triode cathode. To my ears the diffe...

Exactly, lots of people did it, it was also in Koc books, Mesa, Brunetti, Blackstar, and others for sure.

I bet this is a total rip off of a rectum fryer, that's why they covered the board and don't release schematic.

Check out all the resistors connected to anode and cathode of any preamp tube, plus the ones in between every node from the main supply.
Did you change tubes?

Re: Standby bypass

In any guitar Amp standby is not required at all, period.
If you want, you can make a mute switch out of it, but with a different implementation than the usual hv interrupt, there are many different ways.
