Re: Santana's view on his Bludotone

Since Santana got enough money to have many amp on stage, this may be his scream only machine, eventually it might get nicely clean using guitar vol only. Anyway, interesting amp.

Re: Santana's view on his Bludotone

Pots positions make me feel that this amp might be kind of HRM without fenderish TS after 1st stage (drive is first then BMT).

Re: I've found Bizarro TAG!

Personaly, me thinks that it's easier to build a nice sounding tube amp rather than SS - less time required for designing, although SS can sound nice, just my 0.02$.

Re: New ReleaSSSes

So let's start from reverb, I think that it look far more better shown below. Now I wonder about this yellow wire marked 1. That is definetly an error, maybe it should go from cathode ? Hm but the signal seems to be in faze then ...

Re: New ReleaSSSes

When I saw yesterday this schematic I desided to redraw it - man, it was pain in my a**. I'm not sure if it's all right, I'm not really sure if first filter is ok, the second should be fine, also the reverb was drawn so tricky that I had to think a bit, here's the schematic made in Eagle PCB (.sch f...

Re: Effect Pedal building

I've built myself RF Drive (aka Robben Ford Drive) which was supposed to be kind of D in a box. In fact it was just Zen with diode clipping, I must say that it didn't sound good to me, it had nothing to with smooth tone I was after, so I have modified it and now it sounds good, however, nom I'm look...

Re: Converting ceriatone OTS to sss type?

You can use source followers using for example IRF830 instead of extra tube, some may say that this is not "true", that you should use tubes only... but it was proven that there is NO difference between tube or solid follower.

Re: Overdrive only preamp design?

I would add source follower on IRF*** to drive tone stack, I think that buliding a preamp is a cool thing, I always thought of designing a pcb for such thing, also a cab simulator would be nice too, then pack it all to 1U rack chassis.

Re: Quinn goes PCB

AFAIK, if all parts have CE certification, than the wole amp should have, but I'm not expert, all this CE just kills small manufactures.

Re: Quinn goes PCB

Nice pcb, why did you used axial caps instead of "classic" snap-in ?
I was always wondering, why I haven't seen anyone here doing a pcb dumble, I was even thinking about designing own pcb.

Re: Smoother overdrive tips for bassman..

'smooth' often reffers to more scoped highs tones, you could try adding extra cap between signal path and ground, for example vol pot out and ground, start from 47p and go higher (I would even start from 120p).
