One of my D'lite's 50 watters is a great chunka chunka and single note jazz runs amp because of the very heavy filtering across the board.

Re: Power Transformer for 100 watt 183

Thanks Tone Merc, It sounds like the perfect Dumble power transformer as it's good for a variety of output stages. It should be good for headroom which I think/suspect a Dumble is all about of course I could be wrong. Mark, the first Bluesmaster HRM I built I used a PT that I had I wound that IIRC,...

Re: Power Transformer for 100 watt 183

A consideration is that if you run 6L6's the filament voltage will be higher due to the reduced current (-2.4A). The diagram shows 6.3V @ 7.5A, so with 4x 6L6 power section and a total of 4.5A, it might be on the high side. Years back I started ordering my PT primaries at 123-125V and in some cases...

Re: Power Transformer for 100 watt 183

Unfortunately the Heyboer transformer doesn't have export windings which is a shame, it would be a custom order for the export windings. Mark, unless it's somebody's overrun Heyboer stocks very little if any products on the shelf. Thus, it's a basically a custom wind anyway. So if you wanted an exp...

It's one of the Fender 2-35 which is a custom taper. I forget the taper.

Eric
I checked a few dozen of these, it's kind of funky the first 45 degrees of rotation . I found many to be close to 40% at midpoint.

I would love to hear him play through one of the early gen ODS circuits.

So sad. I'll miss your contributions David. I guess many of us are of an age where we have many more days behind us as in front of us. If you don't hear from me for a while, I'll have joined the tube guild in the afterspace. My wife has little idea of the forums I hang in, and she won't be making n...

Re: David Root

This is extremely sad news. I never met him, but sent him NOS parts several times. He always would tease me that I must own several parts stores. He was such a genuinely nice guy and a great builder.

I was wondering several weeks ago that Root had not posted in awhile. He will truly be missed.

Re: quad noval ODS chassis potentials

In early June Taylor, of Amplified Nation fame, offered us batch of ODS chassis with four 9 pin socket holes. I along with other lucky people bought one. Continue slowly collecting parts, along with ideas. Actual build perhaps October or November. Closing posts to "for-sale" thread hinted a possibl...

Seems to be similar with the 12BH7 into some 6550's or was it something else?

No, I don't recall it being this one.

Re: Dumble Clone Break-In Issues

Thanks guys! So... Favorite/best PI tube? That's where I'll start. BTW... I can get some bloom clean or OD with the rig as it is, so it is pretty close to where it needs to be. I just read up on the JJ 12AX7 Gold Pin that's my current PI tube, and it wasn't particularly glowing (sorry for the pun :...

Re: Odyssey Layout & Schematic

The Odyssey looks very similar an early McIntosh poweramp before they went the direct coupled route. They used a 12BH7 with 12k plate loads and a 12AU7 PI. The PI circuit isn't the same but it does have an 18k tail resistor... interesting.... TT k I was reading that Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) had...

Re: Dumble Clone Break-In Issues

Hello, my opinion is V3 is the money tube. Also study the lead dress of some of the real Dumbles and well done replicas. CW I agree with starting at the PI. I have often said that these amps are the sum of the small things and IMHO, the PI is one of them. http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=...
