Very nice build. How do you create the faceplate labels? I've been looking for alternatives to laser etching and your builds always have good looking labels.

Re: Working with suede
I'm pretty sure that is what I used on the amp below. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.timrobertson100 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 8:36 pm I’m struggling to find grey heifer suede in Denmark, and probably need to buy online, sadly. Has anyone been satisfied with results using pig suede please?

Re: Adjust BIAS on Dumble amps
who need 1% resistor in guitar amp? if we take regular 5% res. what is the difference between 35mA and 36 mA can someone explain to me? I agree! Even a 10% resistor can do an ok job here. The error in *not* measuring and including the screen current in this calculation is around 15%. And I do...

Re: sv20h circuit question
Twenty watts is only about 3db less loud than 50w. So, why not just build a 1987 50 watt circuit?

Re: Ab763 simplified design
Note that the grid leak is also the load seen by the previous gain stage. If you make this too small then the previous gain stage will not be happy. It will have trouble driving this load and loose gain. A volume pot does *not* vary the load seen by the previous stage as it looks and acts just like ...

Re: Tweaking Fender Amp AB763
I have 3 AB763 fender amps and they all exhibit the same qualities. There is a sizzly top end that I cannot stand. The harder I strum my guitar, the more apparent this is. Is there a way to dial this out? I would much prefer a much rounder, less fizzy high end, while still staying clean. Do these a...

Re: AB763 Stunflower
I ended up going with a 330k plate resistor on the trem-o-nator triode. It gives a bit mre depth without sacrificing too much of the sin wave shape. I also decided to bump up the cathode bypass on the second stage of the normal channel to 2.2u. Two stages of 0.68u cut so much bass that the bass cont...

Re: AB763 Stunflower
Hey Mike, would you mind if I put a link to this topic on my Trem-O-Nator webpage? Another success story would be great, especially since you used Xvive. I don't mind at all. There may be some useful information here regarding the specs of vtl5c1 reproductions that will work (and not work) with a t...

Re: Trem-O-Nator is trem-o-nating.
The saw-tooth pattern is typical for the roach tremolo. If you have a 470k plate resistor on the LFO, then try 220k and see if that increases the intensity. Thanks for the tip! I did clip in another 470k in parallel with the one I have on the LFO plate and it did increase the intensity like you say...

Trem-O-Nator is trem-o-nating.
Finally got a bit of time to switch my tremolo over to slucky's trem-o-nator. I decided to keep the fender style footswitch setup and did not use a 10k cathode resistor. Everything else is per the trem-o-nator schematic. I've updated the schematic in the first post of this thread to match the amp as...

Re: AB763 Stunflower
My XVive vtl5c1 arrived today (since they cost 10x more than the others I just got one). My tests look similar to yours: opto-couplers.png This looks more promising. And now I understand why the 470k plate resistor. You wanna run this thing at low current to operate in the steep part of the range. O...

Re: MOD 102 Kit not powering on at all. Any suggestions?
Since you have already blown one fuse, I'd save yourself the cost of additional fuses (and other more expensive parts) by building a lightbulb current limiter. There are instructions on this forum as well as elsewhere on the net on how to do this.
