Re: Solved hum problem. Can anyone tell me why?
I think part of your issue is the closeness of the board to the tube sockets. I'd try moving the board as close to the relay board as possible, maybe evening moving the relay boards to get more space for the main board. Also, instead of running the heaters above the board, run them against the chas...

Re: Solved hum problem. Can anyone tell me why?
Yea, after I replaced every component at that stage...and every component in the stage before it...and every component in the stage after it...including the actual wires and socket...I decided to punt. Well... At least I didn't go that far... He would do this on customer service calls also. H...

Vox AC30 Layout - Help needed
This is hopefully my next project, using Rocket transformers from Toneslut. Could you guys please take a look at my schem and layout? It got two preamp channels, Top Boost and EF86, Vox AC30 power amp and Princeton Reverb tremolo. The boost on the first stage of each preamp is taken from Brown Note ...

Re: Solved hum problem. Can anyone tell me why?
I have an amp that does what I think you're describing. If I 'shield' that area of the amp the hum goes away. This amp just has a bug where some wires are microphonic around a certain socket and it hums. If I put my finger near the components the hum increases...until I touch the chassis with my ot...

Re: Solved hum problem. Can anyone tell me why?
Thanks, DM. I tried puting a jumper (with alligator clips) between the chassis and the IEC socket ground lug. I was thinking the same thing as you. It did not have the same effect as putting my hand on the chassis. My grounds are admitedly very poor  But they seem to be holding up. Could the q...

Solved hum problem. Can anyone tell me why?
I had a hum problem on my 50w HRM build. Layout is very different from the real thing. It used to hum like crazy, similar to how rut described his amp. I tried elevating the heaters to around 20v, tried shielding the preamp heater wires, different grounds, messed up with the relay supply, tried a bu...

Very nice tones and playing. Thanks for that. I think the delay and reverb is just a tad too much.

Re: Schematic symbols library for CorelDRAW
Yeah, drz400. I understand what you saying. But as I see it, the best software is the one you know how to use. And I'm ok at CorelDraw. With a piece of paper and this file I can draw the complete schem in about 30 minutes. Less, if I use parts of previously drawn schems. I'll take a look at your rec...

Re: HRM clips
amp sounds very VERY dark, is that what you are striving for? Actually, the amp was quite bright. Too much. I changed the CL2 coupling cap from .02uF to .05uF and things fattened up quite a bit. Still bright on the clean channel though. The side effect of this change was (to my ears) that the mid b...

Re: HRM clips
Thanks, Bob. This was the amp I was talking about on your thread. It actually is set up with input volume at 3 o'clock and Drive at noon. OD trimmer is modest though. I'm starting to practice picking lightly. It's getting me better tones than my heavy handed approach (if you can call it that  )...

HRM clips
My first "proper" recording... EVER... Coming out of the closet as a wanker  Guitar is a locally built tele with a Lollar pickups. P90 on the neck. I used the middle position for both clips (less noise, which is a problem in my build). The amp is a 50w HRM with 6L6, Skyline EQ, high plate resis...

Re: Clips of my HRM in the Funk chassis
Just listened to it. I liked it and I hear some of my amp on it. Then again, I'm not all that happy with my amp so I guess I'm on the fence. Both clips sound much more like what I'd expect from a Marshall than a Dumble. I know that's what it's supposed to sound like  I didn't like the recordin...
