Re: Fine tuning my new 50W #102 build
Vintage 30 will take off some high end which can be nice with the right amp. I use a V30 in a 1x12 Dumble cab with my Bluesmaster for that 'Rock' tone on this particular release. That was a '78 Les paul deluxe on bridge pickup. https://music.apple.com/tt/album/the-hour-of-separation/1538994859?i=153...

Re: New Dumble demo vid. But....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SpcNknsk_4 The guy's obviously a killer player, and the guitar and amp are both legendary. But I feel like he was playing it more like a Marshall. Didn't have that iconic Dumble sound. Might be because he completely had it set on Jazz and played through the FET chan...

Re: NOS John Mayer Sig / Wonderland 100W
Hello everybody, I also built an amp based on the JM, and it too seems to have somewhat anemic gain. The solution of swapping the mixing resistor to 220K seems like the first thing to try, but looking on all the discussion in this and another thread by Marcus i get some conflicting information. You...

Re: New dumble build, advice?
I still really like the Celestion Classic lead 80 if you're going 1x12 .The g12-65 sound good in a big 2x12 cab but I don't like them on their own. Also the Celestion Alnico cream works great with a 50w 102 as well , a bit smoother with a more scooped tone. An old EVM 12 L or S is a great speaker to...

Re: New dumble build, advice?
I still always go back to #102 . For me it's a lovely well balanced amp with SC or humbuckers. you can use radial caps instead of axials if you want or if you're doing a 50w amp you can half the values there or use 220 f&T. If you do a precision power supply then radials are used anyway. Martins boa...

Re: 183 build questions
I've always bolted it straight to the chassis. Aluminium is a good heat sink anyway. That is if your chassis is Aluminium, professormudd wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:38 pm Thank you for the info there, talbany.
Another question, is the voltage regulator mounted directly to the chassis, or is it recommended to use a heatsink?

From our "it only gets worse" department. Re: Jtm50 black flag transform ods... Possible?
anything is possible depends on how muvh you're prepared to throw away from the original :) You have a set of transformers and a chassis and tubes etc so yo just need to make new boards and if you want it to look nice a new faceplate, perhaps make some more holes for things but you have the expensiv...

Re: Is a 50v Presence cap too small for 100 watt amp
That makes sense to me since the Overdrive channel's signal is stronger..I think the reason why everyone likes the Clean channel is the added 1/2 stage of gain the parallel reverb provides. It gives the clean more life and softens the top end a little. That along with the NFB on V1B  So if yo...

Re: Lead dress - Let's do the twist
from my limited experience I've come to the conclusion a lot of this is down to 'tradition' of the various amp makers and ranks along the difference between eyelets/turret board/tag strip etc. Marshall amps historically have always had fairly loosely twisted heaters that lie flat on the chassis in c...

if you'd post to the Uk I'd be interested in doing an AB with replacing my 102 resistors/Caps with the NOS if you have them.
