That “Texas” guy used to also write for VG magazine. He makes some surprising blanket statements at times. Some are just wrong (or typos.) My favorite is when he recommends “upgrading” the main filters in vintage (tube rectified) amps to colossal levels. “..they’re so under filtered….go with 600u….....

Computerized "Scope"

I'd like to get a scope but I know little about them. I did a search about a year ago and noticed that there seemed to be no scopes that utilize the computer screen we all already have. Are there any? Do/would they suck? Is there a reason to not have the display, say via a USB connection and softwar...

One of the purposes of the ground terminal, in the USA at least, is to provide an alternate path for the current to return if a hot lead touches a “chassis” thus tripping the breaker at the panel. I built this one. Found it real cheap but I forget where. I read the sine wave may not be completely clean but I don't have a scope so I can't tell. It sounds clean.
