Re: What're you listening to right now??

Wow, good price. I'm still exploring their older stuff. I got turned on to them from the album "Lonerism."

Was that a Martin they handed to Andy?
Pretty sure, but with only five strings.

Re: BB King in Home Hospice

Some of you might remember my story from a year or two ago where my daughter tried to get his autograph after his concert and he invited us on his tour bus. This man is as genuine and as nice as it gets. The show was great, but nothing as intense as say 'Live at the Regal.' He's a musical icon and a...

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Many thanks to Charlie Wilson. I'm really digging this amp. I just happen to have a Hammond L100 series chassis with iron sitting around and it was the perfect match. Voltages came in spot on regardless of rectifier type and this thing has the bloom and harmonics , even when you step on the gas. Di...

Re: This is how I wish I could play guitar.

I mess around with some stuff like that on lap steel, I transposed a tanpura drone to a few different keys to play along with in a hindustani vibe. A lot of the scales or "ragas" are different ascending and descending, and then you throw in all the micro-tonal stuff and it takes a little seat time ...

Re: This is how I wish I could play guitar.

I try not to hate anything, I can respect technique. I'm just saying that I get more enjoyment listening to the guitarists exploring melody. To each his own. Sorry if 'hate' was implied by saying "can't stand"; not what was meant. And, 'exploring melody' is one of Martino's hallmark traits, he does...

Re: This is how I wish I could play guitar.

Wtf, there is no guitar in it. It's like saying I wish I could mix cement like that guy welds... Listen to Albert King's "I Love Lucy." Research Clapton and woman tone. Re-listen to the video and imagine your next solo could convey nuance and emotion of that woman's voice. There is a long tradition...

No, I mean I wish my lead lines could be as fluid as her voice. With those semi-tone bends. Just amazing and expressive. Ahh! I concur. It is pretty fluid. Every now and then I like to revisit Ravi or Anoushka Shankar for that same quality...(ear retraining is what I call it). Yes, I suppose I shou...

Yeah, your right, those are quarter-tone bends. Such an amazing voice.
