I have all of the parts you need to build this available in an inexpensive kit. You will need to provide the chassis and the wire of your choice, but I can sell you everything else for $25 plus shipping. This does not include the rheostat that is needed for the bedroom control. I personally don't like the sound of that much attenuation so I delete that part of the circuit on the attenuators I build. If you are interested, email me. I got a great bulk buy on the Ohmite power resistors for this application, so I doubt you will be able to beat this price. I can take Paypal too.

Also, I have a THD Hotplate. Does the Airbrake sound better?

My Hotplate injects some strange sound on sustained single notes. It is hard to describe, but the low end seems to drop out and the sustain sounds modulated - kind of like a very subtle phase shift. My amp (DIY 1987) sounds fine (but loud) without the attenuator. Has anybody else experienced this?
