"Fubar Amps" K60 questions

Post by dayn »

I think the builder was from Michigan and I assume they are on TAG.

Seems to have only one 8 ohm speaker out, the other is an empty hole.

Has bias test points, but I need to confirm how it si wired and how to use it.

Thanks for any input!

Dayn can I get another photo this time of the inside the chassis back panel showing the bias test points below the two large resistors.

Also, need to trace that blue wire from the Alpha pot we assume is a bias pot back to the cap board.

The bias pot is wired correctly left side of bias pot has blue wire going to the bias circuit on the cap board. Should be connected at the radial cap.

The other blue wire center pin on bias pot goes to the power tube 220/220 plate load resistors on the tone board.

There should be a 47k resistor from right pin to ground tab which it looks like there is resistor hiding there.

Not certain about your bias test points I can't see that.

Pics coming...

I take it he couldn't find any smaller 1ohm resistors for the bias test points.

What a mess.

Dayn,

Are there extra OT wires not going through into the chassis that can be connected to get the 4, 8, 16 impedence?

I would either get some 1 ohm 1% resistors to replace those rather large ones on the bias test points or let me know I have extra.

The wire coil that wraps around the three wires going from fast/gradual switch to board could be redone as well, making the coil tighter.

FUBAR

That amp doesn't look as bad as the name would imply!

I thought with some attention to detail that amp could look good and function well too. Glad it is. :)
