What is Your favourite Express clip ?
Mine is this: http://ampgarage.com/forum/files/Trainwreck_Express.mp3 (from the files section)
This sample was recorded with Express using a vintage Marshall 4x12 cabinet loaded with Celestion Pre-Rola G12H30s with 014 cones (according to the Komet site).
What I like this sample of is that it is high gain but not a bit harsh. I know the speakers play big part on the sound. I've just finished my Express and would to like it to sound less harsh. I've tried mine with weber ceramic1265, celestion12Mgreenback and eminence red white and blues with the latter being least harsh.
Tell me what is the favourite clip, speaker or tweak for the amp
cheers,

Re: What is Your favourite Express clip ?
I have to throw in my vote for that particular clip, as well. In spite of all the other really decent clips, from the moment I heard it a couple of years back, I began dreaming and planning to build something that could come close to that.
There is something about how each smooth and creamy note seems to rip out from the speakers, leaving a trail of warm and gooey syrup. I know thats not a very technical defintion, but to me, great sound is all about how it strikes you.
My attempted clone is still quite harsh and shrill in comparison.
It needs a lot more work, a 4 x 12 cabinet, a classic LP and certainly a lot more talent before getting close... But that's ok, its a labor of love in progress...

Re: What is Your favourite Express clip ?
My favorite is the one in the first posting (the one on the Komet site).
Because it's a much different use of the amp, cool playing, and love the Beatles song, this one's a close second http://www.theinside.net/SSRev-01.mp3
Mat - I'd give the Emi Governors a shot; they should smooth things out.

The clip I posted is one of Jackies also; I assume you mean the obsession video clip of a 4x12? That's pretty funny and awe-inspiring too.

Here is my clip of the UniWreck:
http://main.sliberty.com/misc/TrainWreckSounds.mp3
I tend to keep the gain a little more under control than most, but its there when I need it.

That is one of the very inspirational ones ! I like it a lot. I also like this clip that Humbucker sent: http://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=1196gearhead wrote:My favorite is the one in the first posting (the one on the Komet site).

The speakers are two Legend V12A:s. Youre right gearhead, I'll have to check several speakers. I think I'll try the Legend for starters (its cheap )

Re: What is Your favourite Express clip ?
The first clip with Alex Garcia (?) from Komet website pushed me over the edge. I wanted to build a Wreck. Never looked back; yes, for example Engl Savage is a great sounding amp as well a Mesa Boogie Blue Angel - not to mention Komet - but I always come back to Wreck's syrupy nasal grind. It knocks the hearing bones in my ear like nothing else does.
What really nails it for the Wreck is that every build you guys have completed sounds great even if they all sound a bit different. One is prone to ghost notes and another lets a transient leak out once in a while - but the magic is there.
So let the clips roll. I enjoy every one of them.

Oldie newbie.
Re: What is Your favourite Express clip ?
Ditto on the Alex Garcia "Mississippi Queen" clip. That pushed me over the edge. Then Glenn (geetarplayer) released those four video clips that REALLY show how you can play the amp as an extension of the guitar. Those four clips are desert island material; must have.
