I use PEC 2W pots. With the later 'wrecks and some repairs I saw that he did he used PEC. The Komet Concorde uses PEC's as well as a proto or two I saw of Kens that used PEC. Maybe he likes them? Who knows? I think most of the stuff he used was due to availability and most of the mojo talk is BS for what it's worth.

are PEC pots similar to the ones being sold under Alessandro amps brand?

They look very similar.

If you get a chance, read the interview with him in one of the amp books (name eludes me, but I got it somewhere).

Ken did indeed use what was available, and modified/tweaked the design/build to suit if the different parts made a difference.

Aren't the PEC pots stainless steel? Did you have any trouble soldering the buss bar?

You can't solder to PEC pots...and expect them to work properly! SS doesn't take solder well at all! I use Clarostat buss clips. They go around the pot and shaft and give a lip with a hole in it to slide a buss bar through. Works great! Wait...did I just say that?!

Allyn, I tried to figure out the Clarostat buss clips from the guts picture you posted, tough to see in such a small picture.
Would you have a link on where to buy them?
Or may be can we get them via Ampbuildersparts?

Are those boards/components the same dimensionally as Francesca?

Skyboltone; UR12 built some boards based on Francesca's perf, which has holes that are .265" (on center) apart. I can't seem to see his previous pics (with turreted but unpopulated board) at:

http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... hlight=093

but if not, count holes with the Francesca shots. Or someone else will chime in ;)
Thanks Gearhead.

That link is Ampwares under a different URL. I have ordered from them and eventually got my stuff. I'm just afraid what would happen if I had to straighten out up screwed up order. I actually see they have them at Newark and I was planning on getting some CD PVC caps from them anyway. Thanks for the Express boards BTW.
