Express capacitors

Post by Bryan Cox »

Hey all,

Quick, gee whiz questions on the Express caps that I couldn't answer elsewhere in the forum. The Express Build Guide V2, page 79 shows .02uf and .002uf PVC caps but the Express Layout RLW 1.8 shows .022uf and .0022uf PVC caps. What difference would this make? And which one is more correct? Looking at pics of Francesca, Ingrid, and Kelly, I can't really see the values of the PVC caps.

Second question, I reviewed the Express Layout from Triode Electronics and they use a 25uf 50v electrolytic in place of the 22uf 25v electrolytic. What tonal difference would this make? I was tempted to do this because I'm a little OCD and wanted to stay with all Sprague Atom electrolytics. But I ultimately went with Sprague standards, 22uf 163v, to ensure I didn't mess with any of the values. Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the caps will be the same value just rounded up to a nearer decimal point. They're 10% tolerance anyway :D
