I put a double stick tape on the back that's made specifically for posting letters on signs. So they will stick for the long haul. The laser just cuts right through the plastic and the double stick tape. I'm sending Riff Raff the base material to use as a template so he can easily install the letters spaced exactly as the logo image he sent me!

It's great what we can do when we get some smart guys with imagination together, huh? And Scott wasn't sure his logo would look good, I LOVE IT! Larry picked some absolutely smoking wood for this! I can't wait to get a cab from him myself!drhulsey wrote:Wa-a-a-a-y-y-y CoolLonely Raven wrote:Another faceplate, made from some killer flamed maple provided by Distortion!
Here is another test/sample that I did, fantastic artwork that just totally makes this faceplate!

That Liverpool logo looks awesome! I can't wait to see mine.

I still need to tweak yours some. It looked good, but way too dark. It's the color conversion that makes it difficult. I'd really like it to look 3d so it stands out.Brad737 wrote:That Liverpool logo looks awesome! I can't wait to see mine.
Fred's Liverpool logo was black and white, which is what the laser wants to see. It can pull fantastic detail (as you can see!), but all the shadowing in your image is almost too much detail. I'm sure we can make it work though!

Re: Laser Engraving TW faceplates-A Photo Guide!
Lonely Raven you are doing some cool work.
I've got a Rocket build on the shelf that I've been hoping to get going on for months now... do you have any logos worked out for a Rocket yet? I've got one of the old 17x8x2 hammond chassis and some original perf board so I'd like to do this think up right with a good front panel.
I've got several kinds of wood in the woodshop that are local to my area and a bit out of the ordinary. I've got some really beautiful Russian Olive and also some Lombardi Poplar... all slab sawn from from trees in my neighborhood. Any limitations or strong voice of experience on things not to try?
in another twist... my son is a student at Wheaton college, is that near you? We'll be out that way this coming summer.

Re: Laser Engraving TW faceplates-A Photo Guide!
Yeah, Wheaton college is just about a mile from me. I ride my bike through the campus all the time over the summers. Nice area there.
I'm not really good at *making* logos, I just tweak what people give me and what I can scrap together off the internet. If you have ideas, I'd be happy to try and work on them for you.
I'm not a graphic designer...I just dabble in a little bit of everything. Honestly, designing these faceplates pretty much pushes the limits of my graphic design skills. If I knew the software better, I could probably pull more off, but for now I just kinda wing it.
I don't know much about those woods, but I'd love to try some on the laser. If you build a cab up and want some faceplates etched, drop me a line!

Hello Eric,
I received my plates today, how to describe the quality of your work????
I am so happy.
Guys, in this thread you can see some very good pictures showing how good looking is Eric's work. But believe me, it is nothing compared with the feeling you have when you see and touch the real thing.
Seeing the samples here gave me high expectations, the results are well above my expectations, It is perfect!!!!!
Thanks again Eric, see you later for my "non TW" future needs.
Fred.
