Mouser for a transformer?
Guys.. I am ordering stuff from Mouser and they are shipping it abroad for free so thats a great opportunity for me to get an Power Transformer for a Trainwreck build.. anyone know if they sell a suitable power Transformer for the Trainwreck? .. I am already buying an Ultra Linear Output Traffo for another project and thought I might as well get an Express power Traffo while I am at it.
Thanks
Thanks

They sell Hammond transformers:

The 272JX Looks like it would do the trick (someone correct me if I'm wrong) as long as your line voltage is ~120v AC

Too many variables to suggest, which TW amp were you thinking about Express/Liverpool or the Rocket?
The cheaper 240v line is the 290 series and the more expensive is the 300 series and 270 series is 115v only.

Thats great guys I'll check it out...
Re: Mouser for a transformer?
I used a Hammond 272JX for my express and it worked fine. I'd use it again...
Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Wallybob,
That is for 115v-120v you used the 272JX right?
I was staying away from that series for the poster as I assumed he was needing EU spec.
I see no problem with using a Hammond they seem like good transformers, higher priced but with free shipping thats the way to go on this build.

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
You are correct Mr. Fowler - I used the 272JX which is 115 VAC only. The "export" compatible version is the 372JX. Big difference in price - 272JX is $78.69 and the 372JX is $149.95!
Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Wallybob,
Yeah the price difference is huge. I was trying to get keep the poster in the 290 series but that isn't always available application wise. The Vox replacements might work.

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
I think I may go the 272JX route myself, it's about the cheapest good quality transformer that I've seen. What do the Heyboer/Pacifics/others for an Express usually go for?

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Heyboer or pacific from $170 to $230 per set.

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Just need a power transformer, not the set. How much for just their PT's?

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
One thing to note, which may not be apply in this case, is that Mouse doesn't usually have the Hammonds that we would want in stock. You have to wait for them to order and receive the transformers from Hammond. I ordered a bunch of 270FXs from them a few years back and cancelled my order after 3 weeks and no transformers.
It might pay to have someone here ship you a PT.

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Mouser says they'll arrive on 3/8/2010 but I've had the same issue with Mouser before with respect to them not shipping parts on time. The shipping isn't free anyways..

Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Without asking Allyn or rjguitar I estimate the $70 - $90 range for just a PT. I know there cheaper than Hammonds.
Re: Mouser for a transformer?
Cliff... I see you say that the mouser shipping isn't free... I notice that they say that on orders of $100 shipping is free so I guess I am going on that but then again you often find there is some catch as soon as you make it to online checkout!!.. in any case it was on that basis that I thought they would be good to use them for the power transformer... As Mark says it is indeed a 230V primary I am looking for but I notice that most (all?) of the transformers mouser show on their site are 320-0-320 secondary and I am looking for the 300-0-330.
